Well, it's been a little over 3 months since the board was created. I'd like to get some feedback on the transition from vBulletin to SMF. Difficult? Easier? Nicer? Features? Things like that. I use SMF at my other site so I've been pretty much accustomed to it for 2 years. It gives the Admins free reign over the entire code, which is free unlike vBulletin and Invision. When it comes to being powerful, there are no other boards that are as powerful for Admins as open-source board software.
So, all in all, how has the transition been? How hard was it to learn?

It's been okay.
You guys know what you're doing, and the rest of us follow.
You guys do good work.
-
I'm almost 80 years old, and I quickly caught on. Is all goood.
-
It's been great. I like the board.
And you guys aren't half bad either.
-
I think it's been great. In fact, invisible.
-
The fact that the only noticable things are improvements are a testament to the job you guys are doing.
-
I enjoy this new software. It's definitely different, but after so many years of dealing with the problems involving V-Bulletin on other message boards, it's a refreshing change.

I think it's very intuitive for the most part and I like it Not sure I care for the search function but that may be due to me not knowing how to use it. For example, I can find posts by all users with the term "Islam" in it, but what do I do if I want to find all posts by user ACrazyConservative regardless of any text in the posts?
-
It is working well for me, I like the 'show unread posts' feature and replies 'to your posts' they ensure I don't miss anything.

Go to the profile and scroll down. There is a link to all the posts there. It says "Show the last posts of this person."

That just earned you a H5, Missy - thanks! :-)

You're welcome. :)

Well, I can't tell the difference between the different technologies. But I've enjoyed the board and I like the H5/BS feature.

If you click "search" up top, there are fields for "By User" and "Search For". Just type in "Islam" in the "Search For" and the poster's name in "By User". If you don't know the user's full name or correct spelling, use the *. I.e. Cactu*. It'll search all users that start with Cactu.

Well....I'm a rather elderly Luddite, and after a few days, I found it very user friendly and easy to use. Like others have commented, I particularly like the option to "see replies to your posts", functions like these make the board simple to use and navigate....great job Reb!
The only annoying feature is that you have to "disable refresh" on the SB in order to start at the beginning and catch up on what is going on in there....but I don't know of any other way to do it....

I like being able to choose different themes. Kind of like figuring out what I'm going to wear everyday...it depends upon what kind of mood I'm in.

I get too disconcerted -- Just like women: I choose a theme and stick with it.

The forum is great. i agree with tvdoc about the shoutbox but is no big deal to me.

I'm pretty much used to this format now.

H5 for you too - thanks Rebel!
