I think the OP should have a talk with this teacher, but that's easy to say since I'm not the teacher:

My Second Grade Son has a Capitalist Barter System in order to go bathroom
My son is in 2nd grade. Unlike any other teacher at his school, his teacher set a system up where the kids get a certain amount of money at the beginning of the term - and with that money they can (1) Go to the bathroom, (2) Sharpen their pencil or many other things. On that list is also the ability to talk to the teacher. If they don't have the money, they don't get the 'privilege' of going to the bathroom or sharpening the pencil if need be.

Tell me this isn't pre-fascist.

Tell me this isn't an authoritarian regime.

What kind of power crazed maniac would set such a system into place among SEVEN YEAR OLDS!!!

---------------------------------------------------

We're complaining. Partially because the amount of homework he is getting is absurd (easily 3-4 hours a night - did I mention this is second grade??)

But also because of this Ratfink fascist system they have set up - I mean, come the hell on!

I would request a meeting.

7 year olds are fun little people, but I would want a few things explained.  7 year olds are sometimes only able to express part of a concept.

I objected to what I viewed as excessive homework when a one of my kids had a certain teacher.  Turned out other parents had similar opinions and the teacher (first or second year) was given some counsel (by other teachers) as to what would be more beneficial to everyone.  Everybody compromised a bit.

It teaches the children how to spend their money responsibly.  Something you DUmmies would never do.

Get over it.

It's not even real money, dumbass.

BS, no teacher would get away with not talking to a student or not letting the child go to the bathroom. My daughter has something similar with her teacher but they aren't "given" money at the beginning of the term, they have to earn money and get to spend it on different privileges like "buying" cute pencils, erasers, extra reading time or free time, etc.  It is a way of teaching them responsibility and how money works. When you run out of money for the month you can't spend what you don't have.....unlike the Democrats.

The OP's teacher sounds like a socialist to me (if the story is true, which I highly doubt). The teacher GIVES the kids money and tells them how to use it. My daughter can choose not to buy anything or blow it all in one day. If she comes up short at the end of the month she can still talk to the teacher and use the bathroom.  ::)

^ 3-4 hours? I didn't have half that much, even in high school, Bounce, and no bongs. Not a good story.

Bouncy.

Besides, what ever happened to just raising your fingers for going to the bathroom; one finger for #1 and two fingers for #2?  In case of a tie, 2 wins out over 1.

I could almost believe it if the "money" were used for non-essential things, but to include the bathroom, pencil sharpening and even talking to the teacher stretches credibility too far.

That's not really "Capitalism," anyway.  It's rationing, as experienced in Socialistic societies.   As usual, Taverner is a flaming idiot.
