So I was putting away my husband's socks when I found a buried stack of magazines
Keep in mind he's a very conservative type.
Needless to say, I was shocked; my mouth just hung open. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
So I grabbed the magazines and confronted him.
"How long has this been going on?" I queried (we've only been married since the middle of August).
"A couple of months," he said.
"Why?" I asked.
He sort of meekly shrugged.
"I was thinking maybe we wanted to try some of it," he replied.
"With me?"
He looked at his feet and nodded.
I still don't know what to think but it's true.
It's all true.
My so-called conservative husband has a subscription to, Mother Earth News.
Now he has a list of projects for spring, including tearing down our wire fence and planting a hedge fence. He also wants to get some chickens and some guinea fowl for insect control.
And all this time you think you know a man!
:whatever:
She's changing him one organically washed sock at a time.
It's interesting how the DUmmies think only liberals give a dang about the environment. CONservation .... hmmm wonder where the word CONserve comes from.
What idiots.

7. good lord. Tons of conservatives practice good conservation
notice the similarities in the words...................
this should not be a surprise.
However, it should be noted the DUmp stuck their collective(ist) noses in the air and sniffed when Ted Nugent was on Anthony Bourdain's show and demonstrated how he plants trees and has saved an endangered species of African gazelle.

It's got some interesting stuff in it from time to time but it's really 'way too Yuppified and PC, it's all about fad Green instead of actual homesteading or sustainable living. Backwoods Home and Countryside are MUCH better choices for people who want articles directed at people who own guns and don't have a hundred grand to drop on a solar-cell array to power their electric home and charge up their Prius.
-
I bet she knew exactly where to look because she was the one that stashed them there.
-
Oh for crap sakes! Avoid the political bullshit and Mother Earth News has a lot of practical homesteading information. But just in case her husband is looking over her shoulder, the conservative answer to Mother Earth News: Backwoods Home (http://www.backwoodshome.com/).

That's not a man...
That's some kind of sissy. Where are his car and gun magazines?

I want magazines that teach you how to mount guns on cars.

I was hoping you would pop up with that title. I couldn't find that thread from the last time you mentioned it.

Well, the sissy part is the hiding them away part.

I know that DH and I talked about that quite a bit while commuting in DC area traffic. :-)

Not even half bong material.
1. Putting away socks? Not on your life.
2. Hubby wears socks? Not on your life.
3. Hubby is conservative? Not on your life.
4. Mother Earth News? I might buy High Times or Mother Jones.
What might have actually happened:
1. Found gay porn with sticky socks.
2. Found Furrie magazine with sticky socks.
3. Found Bestiality magazines with sticky socks.
4. All of the above.

Thanks for that link, I've just been browsing and it has some interesting stuff and useful even for a city dweller.

If her husband was gay the DUmp would be idolizing her for being so open and tolerant and pro-gay.
She'd be a hero.
Frankly, after reading her posts lo these many months I was shocked when I heard they were married.

That was the part that jumped out at me. Anyone really think someone would 'hide' a magazine like that?

Maybe if they were "hiding" it in the bottom of the bird cage... :-)

You start with the Digest. When you run out of that then you go to NewsWeak for a bigger fix.

Maybe it's changed in the last few years, but Reader's Digest used to have a conservative lean to it. They had lots of stories about faith.

Sadly, I don't think they publish Firepower anymore.

Oh yeah, he asked her to marry her. I think if you dig around, she posted pics of the wedding. I believe it was at her conservative in-law's home. :-)

The 6-8 book series of Fox Fire.-------That would tell her her man is ready to head to the outback and how to survive as was done 100 years ago.
Readers Digest that I have not read in 20 years was one hell of a magazine to read on a summer night. Very Conservative in the 1950-60 that to this day stays in the back of the mind and only pops out when in to days world close to the same thing is going on.
Some of the science articles way back then are now today being brought forth as new discovery's or theory's.

My parents have every issue of Mother Earth News ever published. I'd say it measures out to at least 10 feet long on the bookshelf.
The further you go back on the Mother Earth issues, the better they were, the 1970's articles being my favorite. I've learned a lot of self sufficiency tips from those.
The newest issues are the ones I wouldn't mind throwing away.
I think I've got them hooked on Backwoods Home, though. It reminds me a lot of the earlier Mother Earth stuff, with the B.S. removed.

I always thought it was NewsWeak.
Both Readers Digest and Newsweek are news to me.
I thought it was TV Guide, that's why i canceled my subscription...

Yeah, the Digest has changed. When our subscription was up I let it go. It has gone WAY left in my very humble opinion. I've been waiting for them to call or send a survey about why we cancelled but it has been over a year so I guess they didn't care to know.

That explains that, then. It was 4 or 5 years ago when I quit subscribing.

Add hot chicks to guns mounted on cars, and you have Dillon Precision's Blue Press catalog.
So Nuclear Unicorn married that conservative dude she was dating? That was fast.

You mean the one she broke up with for being too conservative? Yeah, within a month or so after that, he swept her off her feet by taking her shooting at the range with his family, and they have tied the knot.

Aww... To quote my favorite vampiress Pam: "If I had any emotions, I'd be shedding a tear right now."

Hmmm...
...I wonder how long this guy will last:

90. This post is a perfect example of why we should NOT demonize the other side.

Yeah, I bought my sis and her husband a gift sub to it last year to wean them from their unfortunate hippy influences, they like it alot.
