Title: Calling the government's bluff on internet security
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on December 01, 2010, 09:41:53 AM
Last week the government seized numerous domain names through its overbroad interpretation of its mandates under for the DHS, ICE and the rest of the malignant alphabet soup.

What was the tremendous threat that dictated these seizures?

Jihadist websites recruiting martyrs?

No.

Some eco-terrorists discussing the uilding of incendiary devices?

No.

It was a bunch of teenagers swapping music and not cutting the government's overfed Hollywood patrons in on their cut money.

But now Assange and WikiLeaks is using the amazon.com to disseminate legitimate state secrets (and showing the world that a clueless putz runs the WH, a fact I would like to keep out of the world's sight as much as possible).

So will the government use its newly flexed muscle to seize amazon.com?

If not then the entire exercise is exposed as a farce to cater to a favored constituency and all pretense of national security evaporates.

What pretense?  If they actually gave a shit about national security, Assange would have been room temperature within 12 hours of the military document dump.

Yes, well, it's important to remember: we're not Russia.

Obama just wants to suck Russia's dick.

I sure hope you're referring to handling security leaks.

Well, yeah, I don't think there's all that much difference between the old way to suck off Russia and the current method.
