****Bowl Projections - Week 13****

A lot has changed this week, and so the bowl projections change accordingly. Wisconsin gets the automatic bid out of the Big Ten and faces the highest Non-AQ due to BCS rules in TCU. Stanford finishes in the Top 4 of the BCS Standings meaning they will earn an automatic bid to the BCS. UCONN fits better at the Orange Bowl and Stanford at the Fiesta, due to Stanford's lack of traveling skills. Oklahoma defeats Nebraska to go out of the Big 12 and VA tech beats FSU to go for the ACC

BCS National Championship
Auburn vs Oregon

Rose Bowl
Wisconsin vs TCU

Sugar Bowl
Ohio State vs Arkansas

Orange Bowl
Virginia Tech vs UCONN

Fiesta Bowl
Oklahoma vs Stanford

And now for some of the rest...

Capital One Bowl - Michigan State vs LSU
Cotton Bowl - Nebraska vs Alabama
Outback Bowl - Iowa vs South Carolina
Gator Bowl - Penn State vs Florida
Chick Fil-A - Mississippi State vs Florida State
Humanitarian Bowl - Boise State vs Ohio

I dunno.  franksolich suspects it's the Siesta Bowl for the Cornhuskers.

We'll see, though.

1. I'm afraid Iowa may make the toilet bowl

The way they played yesterday, they will not make anything that even resembles a big time bowl game. A lot of people around here are thinking the Texas Bowl. Big Ten vs. Big 12. Mediocre teams from each conference.

Yeah. Iowa.

Nebraska joins the Big 10 next season, and the talk is that to replace the legendary Nebraska-Oklahoma rivalry, probably what's going to evolve is a Nebraska-Iowa rivalry.

No way.

Nebraska's going to have only one rival in the Big 10.

4. Sorry, Mad.

No Outback for Iowa. I'm sure the Bowl scouts are quite aware that HawkeyeNation will not travel to see a team that quit on them. Maybe Insight or TicketCity(?). At best, Gator.

5. Who else then? Michigan Team that got drubbed? Northwestern Team that got drubbed?`

I guess its gotta be Penn State then? But Iowa beat both, so it will be interesting.

Edit: Obviously Iowa lost to NW, but a Persa Less team with a smallish fanbase isnt going to the Outback

6. Penn State.

They'll bring a much bigger fanbase.

7. How does Virginia Tech get to a major bowl when Boise beat them?

8. Better yet, can't wait to see that UCONN juggernaut in the BCS.

What a ****in' travesty.

Yeah.

One connects "Connecticut" with "college football" about as much as one connects "peaches" with "shoelaces."

9. UCONN is actually building a decent program, but no, they're definitely not there yet.

Connecticut will have to play major-league college football for another 120 years, until 2130, before Connecticut can possibly be considered a major football power.

11. Of course it's a travesty..

there should be some kind of rule these AQ conference winners should at least be ranked in the top 25 if not higher Otherwise, no BCS bowl.

10. By winning the ACC

which, for whatever reason, has an automatic bid.

The Atlantic Coast Conference, like the Big East Conference, is not a real conference.

The only real conferences are the Big 12, the Big 10, the Southeastern, and the Pacific 10.

12. If Stanford doesn't finish in the top 4 they're going to get screwed. Just watch.

I do not see any scenario whatsoever.

14. If they don't finish in the top 4 which seems unlikely, but could happen, Stanford is then not guaranteed a BCS bowl. And considering they have a small fan base (heck, they have empty seats at home games), there would be a good chance the Cardinal would be passed over in favor of a lesser ranked team. Leaving them in the Alamo Bowl, which is tantamount to being screwed..

15. Please provide a scenario...

Where a lesser ranked team will play in a BCS bowl game instead of Stanford. I fail to see it. Not more than 2 teams from a conference can play in BCS bowl games and I really see no reason under any circumstances where a second team from Big 12 will be playing at a BCS bowl game.

franksolich thinks Oklahoma, from the Big 12, will be that second BCS team from the Big 12.

Doubtful, coach. If OU loses to Nebraska, they will be back in Jerry's World in 34 days.

I think the ACC championship is going to be a better game than anyone is giving credit.  Virginia Tech got through the conference undefeated, Florida State came within two plays of doing the same.  That and traditionally the Seminoles usually have the Hokies number.  I really would enjoy seeing the garnett and gold back n the Orange Bowl.

Too early to tell. Depends on who wins, OU or Nebraska.

I would really look forward to an Oregon/Auburn game.  I wonder how Auburn would adapt to the speed of the Oregon offense.  Being a PAC-10 fan, it would be great.  And for this weekend, I will be watching the big red machine travel south down I-35 to Dallas.  That is going to be a game.

When you're there, ask Stoopes and Pelini how it feels to be ruthlessly sodomized by Texas A&M. :-)

Yeah.  Next year.

I'm not happy about it, but there's nothing I can do about it.

By the way, sir, the other day Barry Switzer told the Omaha World-Herald that of course naturally by God he hopes Oklahoma wins that game.....but because it's Nebraska, if Nebraska wins, Barry won't lose any sleep over it.

Of course I want Nebraska to win.....but because it's Oklahoma, if Oklahoma wins, I won't lose any sleep over it.

An affinity of class and good manners and bonhommie, Nebraska-Oklahoma.

You could boycott....uh...organize a big protest in Washington... uh...go on a hunger strike....uh.... You're right, there's nothing you can do short of acting like a DUmmie.

You've missed a lot of options. You can set up an on-line petition, break into the deans office and have a sit in, blame it on Bush or even email/call Keith.

Anyway. Just as long as Ohio St. loses.

Go down to College Station and ask 'em about how they got it in return by Gundy and Pinkel too.

Yeah, it wouldn't upset me greatly either. I just don't want their bowl game to be one on a Tues., Wed., some other day of the week where I can't enjoy watching the game.

Oh, I am not going.  I live near I-35 south of Wichita and I drive it every day.  I will see the cars with N for Knowledge on their car tags heading south of the Red River.

Even though I don't know alot about the Big 12 or Big 10 I think that at least for the first two years in the Big 10,Nebraska is going to have a hard time getting more then  seven winning games against Ohio State,Michigan,Michigan State and Penn State and Winsconsin.

Of course.

We're going to be new there.

We're going to stumble, until we figure things out.

And once that happens, the Nebraska-Ohio State game's going to make the current top rivalry, Ohio State-Michigan, look about as boring and bland as the annual Colorado-Iowa State game.

I think it'll take us about five years to hit our stride.

After that, watch out, because it's the natural order of things for Nebraska and Ohio State to dominate the Big 10.
