By Ryan Haggerty of the Journal Sentinel

A 37-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on allegations of pushing a 100-year-old woman working as a greeter at a Milwaukee Wal-Mart, a police spokeswoman said Monday.

The customer apparently became upset when the greeter tried to make sure she had paid for water bottles as she left the store at 3355 S. 27th St. about 6 p.m., police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said.

The greeter was treated at a hospital and released, Schwartz said. The Milwaukee County district attorney's office is reviewing the case, she said.

1. Thank them for their concern and then walk past them

there is no requirement in most environments to tolerate them.

20. Are you saying

the customer was within their rights to ignore this woman who was most likely asking to see the sales receipt for the item she was walking out with?

58. Not only was she within her rights, but **** greeters, generally speaking

I shop at my damn walmart every week because there's no other grocery store here that's cheap enough (seriously, I checked) and EVERY TIME I leave that place the old bitty wants to harass me over my receipt, checking every item. I don't even deal with them anymore.

I think it's because I'm not a 90-year old white guy that can barely walk like everyone else that lives here.

Makes you wonder what name the 37 year woman who assaulted the 100 year greeter uses on DU.

Yes, cry about a business making sure you PAID for the items you chose.  I know the DUmmies want everything for free, but Walmart is a business and employs hardworking people that they (Walmart) must pay.  It's not like the wages for the worker's just appear out of someone's ass.

Our greeter's at our Walmart are very nice and never "harass" us with checking our receipts.  Probably because we make numerous trips to Walmart when the same two greeter's are working.  They know us.

Sam's Club does the same thing.  They stop you at the door and make sure your items purchased on your receipt matches the item number in your cart.  It backs up the door when you're trying to leave, but I'm not in that big of a hurry if I went shopping at Sam's.

I sure hope one of these asshats gives me crap when I become a Wally World greeter! I have no doubts I will become one, either! The way O'bumbler and his minions have set the country back, I'll be workin' until I'm a 100, too!

I'll knock the snot out of 'em with my cane, then shove the business end up their ass so far they'll think it's a tongue depressor!!

The only times the greeter has asked to see a receipt was if there was some box too big to be bagged, or if the alarm goes off.

The greeter is just doing their job. Keeping theft from shoplifters keep the prices low, and that is why they shop there. If that one poster can't find another store that is cheaper then try traveling farther. Or just go to a store that marks up the prices to cover for "the poor" that help themselves to what they want for free.

Seems that liberals would naturally want to shop at those kind of places. It's how they want our government to run.

25. Absolutely within her rights! We do not have to show them

our receipts and I refuse to do it, too. The last time I was in a Walmart, probably two years ago, I bought two weeks of groceries which included a case of beer. At the door the greeter asked to see my receipt. I said, "what for?" She said it was her job to stop anyone who had an item that was not in a bag and make sure it was paid for. I then asked, "Are you accusing me of being a thief?" She said, "Oh, no, honey, certainly not." Whereupon I said, "Well, okay then." and walked away. I will not ever comply with that request. When I've paid for my items and gotten a receipt, my transaction is over. If they suspect me of wrongdoing, arrest me for shoplifting. If not, leave me the hell alone and stop treating me as if I have done something wrong!

They are such children at DU.
Yes it can be annoying when you get stopped to show a receipt but, you know what I am grown up enough to comply just to make that person's job easier for him or her. I also believe if they do this and stop shoplifting then we all can enjoy the lower prices. Instead of having to pay for 2 or 3 items every time we buy one because some DUmmy got a five finger discount.

it could be worse if Janet and Barry ran wal mart they would grope you upon leaving the store.

It was on the news the other night. A felow had been caught shoplifting in WAL-MART more than once and was barred from going in a WAL-MART anywhere. He loaded a cart with toilet paper and paper towels and a big screen TV and pushed it out the door. The greeter questioned him on the way out and the "merchandize something" (WAL-MART anti-theft) followed him out the store and tried to stop him but he put the TV in his car and left....and left all the paper goods.....they know who he is so I guess they'll pick him up sooner or later......which leaves me with one question....

What was DUmmie stealing?....DUmmie saw a super old lady at the front door and figured it was all you can steal day.

When I worked at the Home D'Pot, they just let shoplifters skate! They might try and keep them outa the store if they can identify them, but for the most part, they are more afraid of law suits if they get it wrong. One employee stopped a guy from stealing 2 chain saws and got fired for his effort!

He was probably fired because he wasn't suppose to go after the thief in the first place.  I work at Macy's at the fragrance counters, right next to the lower level mall entrance.  I am not allowed to chase someone down for stealing something.  Loss Prevention does that.  If we, as employees, see someone acting suspicious, we just call LP and they send in their "undercover" employees (wearing plain clothes, blending in with shoppers) to observe the potential shoplifter(s).  LP chases down the shoplifters, not me.  And if I were to "play the hero", I could be fired.

Most don't, and since Target entered into a deal with Walmart and Haliburton to build underground detention centers in their new stores, they take their business elsewhere when possible.

Sometimes, it just ain't possible.

It's called loss prevention you dolt!  Because idiots like you from the "gimme gimme" crowd who believe you shouldn't have to pay for anything like to take five finger discounts from grocery stores...they have people like the old woman that was assaulted there to make sure what is on the ticket is what's in your basket.

THAT is why you're able to get your groceries there cheaper than any of the other places you allegedly checked.

Same here --BJ's and Wally World?  You been stalking me?

I look at it this way.  I, as an honest person, have nothing to hide, and have no problem with the extra five seconds that a greeter is going to take to make sure nothing OBVIOUS is walking out the store.  They've never gone over my purchases with a fine tooth comb, never given me the TSA treatment, and if they were to do so, I would say something to their supervisor/manager, not them.

LOL!

I'm used to it at BJ's but it was the 1st time it ever happened at Walmart, not sure why they wanted to see my receipt but maybe for some reason they decided to check a lot of people out that day, maybe they had a rash of shoplifters, the greeter was a senior and very nice, so what am I supposed to do? be rude to them? even at my age my Mother would smack me if I was rude to someone who was just doing their job, and especially if they were a senior. I was raised to respect my elders and you NEVER argue with them.

41. Then there is Wal Mart policy, which basically states that they will not chase or restrain anyone. I had an incident some years ago with one of their loss prevention bubbas which ended with Wal Mart firing him and apologizing to me for it.

Then they fall to squabbling about "Shopkeepers Privilege" laws, bore everybody with self-righteous claims of never shopping at Walmart, then tussle over whether a 100-year-old "had" to work, or "wanted" to work.

Only one DUmmy had a glimmer of clarity:

So being asked for receipt upon leaving a store is an assault upon humanity but being naked scanned or sexually assaulted by the TSA is okey dokey?

If they don't want to show their receipt then they should shop elsewhere.  When I lived in Puerto Rico all the stores checked receipts because things really had a way of walking out the door over there.

I saw something of that policy in a New Jersey HD a few years back, and there are some dirtbag mofos in NJ that will steal anything that isn't welded in place (After dark, even welding wouldn't work).  Guy tried to push a loaded cart of big ticket stuff out and it set off the alarms, the register crews hustled over and confronted him about a receipt which he of course didn't have.  After a short bit of shucking and jiving on his part about having paid for it (somehow), they took charge of the cart but just let him wander off clean, without calling the cops and despite there probably being somewhere north of 7-800 bucks worth of gear in the cart.
