Another one gone. :(    A very funny guy, but he did a lot of straight character rolls.  I still remember him as the Swamp Fox .

He wasn't my style of comedian, but this is sad news nonetheless. Condolences to his family, and friends.

The world is slightly less funny without him.  He was a very good actor.  Most folks don't remember his straight roles which he acceled at before people realized he could be funny.

"Nice beaver!"

I laugh at those movies no matter how many times I see them.

The last movie I saw him in was "An American Carol", with Kevin Farley.  I also remember him as the serious, starchy captain in "The Forbidden Planet", the title role in "Mr. Magoo" (although Jim Bakus will forever in my mind be the voice of Mr. Magoo), and in one of the segments in "Creepshow", where he played opposite Ted Danson. He could cover just about any role, but "Airplane" ("Don't call me Shirley") and "Naked Gun" roles were my favorite.

Prayers to his family and friends for their, and our, loss.  He will be missed.   :bawl:

I loved his work.  His book is a riot, too.

RIP, Mr. Nielson.

Best, tightest segment in the whole move. Nielsen should have done some villain roles in some actioners, he'd have been great (Dracula Dead and Loving It is a comedy, does not count--I mean like a psycho-super-cold-sociopath villain).

Even when he was doing more serious roles in his earlier years he was known as a prankster off camera.

Irvin Kershner died today too. For those who aren't Star Wars geeks, he directed Empire Strikes Back, the best film in the franchise (well I go back and forth between Empire and Revenge of the Sith).

I can't deal with the new movies... they were awful.  'Empire' wins, hands down.

Agreed.  That was the best movie of the 6.
