Is the recession over for you?

It's mostly unterprimitiven, the obscure ones, the primitives of no prominence.

4. Nope! It is more like Depression. I doubt if I will see the recession over in my lifetime.

20. Yes. Most of the self employed can see things picking up.

29. I don't think that's true.

Unless they're solid waste haulers. For them, things are always picking up.

54. Bullshit. I'm self employed as are most of my friends and nothing has Changed

Toeing the white House line alike a crazed fanboy won't change the facts.

21. yup. it turned into a depression some time ago

In order to dig my way out of the recession, I took on de...er, invested in myself, and went back to school for a new degree, in Med Lab technology. With 100% employment rate and worldwide shortage, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Now I'm approaching my final semester -- unpaid, 40 hours/week in hospital clinical training.

Only suddenly the hospitals are taking half the students they used to. Oh, and they're laying off. There aren't any jobs at the back end.

My little boat is scheduled to sink next summer when I graduate and can't find work, unless I can dig enough clams or worms to support my family and pay off my student loans.

30. Medical jobs were the shining hope for years. Now, as you observe, even they're being hit.

I'm not sure how to explain that. Presumably there is no shortage of customers.

48. There is not a shortage of sick people. Just a shortage of people who can afford medical care

10 years ago it was standing room only in my doctors office. Had people waiting outside the office in the lobby waiting for a chair. Now when I go there its usually me and one or two other people sitting in the waiting room at the most.

Business is way down.

38. SHIT no!!!

It's a ****ing depression. My mom's bar went out of business last month. It's gotten so bad that the drunks are cutting down on their drinking, think about that!

45. Hardly.

As a "greedy" SSDI recipient I'm up to my eyeballs in recession. Everywhere I turn prices are going up - gas, food, Medigap premium, utilities - and I'm stuck in 2008 as far as my benifits are concerned. The COLA calculations are a big bad joke.

46. no. walked the dog today, at least one empty house on every block.

one had had a fire sometime in the night.

that really bummed me out.

i've never seen it this bad around here.

the only thing holding it up is government checks.

Hmmm.  One suspects the Hannah primitive lives in a blue state with a blue political machine running it.

All I got to say;  :nelson:
How's that "stimulus package" treating ya? Was it worth the money? How about the other "little" bills, like the jobs bill and tax cuts for the businesses? How did those work out? How about that financial reform bill? I thought that would help? No?
OH!,....I know! How about that wonderful HELLCARE bill that would create jobs, reduce the deficit and keep premiums low? No?,.....that didn't work neither? Maybe all that money the fed throw out the helicopter with QE 2.0 will help, huh?! How do we pay all that off DUmmies? You DUmmies are finally seeing it where it hurts. In your wallets. FINALLY!

31. Nope.

Still unemployed and looking for work... for 25 months now and counting.

With a name like FarLeftRage and an anarchist sign as an avatar you're having trouble finding work?
Hard to imagine.

Sooooo...your kid has a headache, high fever, and muscle aches. You can't get the fever to stop spiking and he's becoming lethargic. You decide (in spite of the lousy Obama economy) to take Jr. to the emergency room. They have to treat you and you don't have to pay. The doctor suspects meningitis and wants to do a spinal tap and send the fluids to the lab for testing. You're going to say "no, we'll just see how it goes because we cant afford it"?

Or here's a thought: maybe it's not "the economy" stupid, but with the new health care law looming like a big black cloud over a flood zone (is black cloud racist?) all segments of the medical industry are cutting back and holding off on hiring because they still have no idea how they'll be affected.

It's not just the medical fields that are holding back on hiring neither. It's a shame Cindie. I do agree with you.

It's not over for me.  In the unlikely event I lost my job tomorrow, I might have to go a couple of weeks before I found another.

When times were good, I would pick up the phone and have another job by Monday.

Hard to imagine.

Indeed.  With their beliefs that all companies are evil, and the profit motive is nauseating, their attitude will shine right through, if they're lucky enough to get an interview.

I've built my career out of a specialty of Maximizing Profit.  Funny, I've always had a job.
