Title: Are you 'flexisexual'?

Oh geez, something else to add to the GLBTVZQWERTY confusion. Soon they'll be out of letters.

Are you 'flexisexual'?

Are you 'flexisexual'?

It all started when Madonna kissed Britney Spears on stage, followed by Katy Perry who sang a song about a girl she kissed – and now it seems the 'flexisexuality' trend is fast catching up.

The new word has been coined for the growing number of straight women who flirt with bisexuality. It refers to people who have a sexual preference but refuse to be bound by it.

"Women are often more open to these experiences when they reach their 40s and are more confident with their sexuality. If an opportunity presents itself they may think "why not", particularly if they have come out of a long relationship," the Daily Mail quoted Psychologist Dr Cecelia D'Felice as saying.

Twice-married Barrymore, who has admitted having flings with women, has been quoted as saying, "Being with a woman is like exploring your own body, but through someone else."

Actress Lindsay Lohan, 24, is among younger flexisexuals who see it as 'on trend'.

14. I think that's very common, actually.

I'm of the mind that sexual orientation is a continuum, and while most lean one way or the other, I think it's normal for situations to arise that bring about new experiences. Provided we haven't limited ourselves with preconceived notions, of course.

For some reason, his/her/its screen name reminds me of the pervs on crowded subways who take advantage of the situation to cop an anonymous feel.

24. Reminds me of the 70s, when being bisexual was very au courant

I do like the more modern term "heteroflexible." though. I have this thing that "real" bisexuals can be in love with someone of either gender. "Heteroflexible" is more accurate in describing people who typically are in love only with the opposite gender, but are willing to be open-minded given the right circumstances.

"Heteroflexible." Another one. :whatever:

17. I'm trisexual. I'll try anything once, twice if I like it.

Okay, that one made me laugh.

21. No, I don't think this is what is meant at all

As someone who can identify, allow me to attempt to explain--at least from my own perspective. I am someone who considers herself "mostly straight". I am hetero, for me sexual pleasure (from another person) is all about the penis. I have been with other women, but it is not sexually gratifying to me (I love the penis). Yet I love women and often have serious girl crushes. I love the attention of women--they just lack the freaking penis. I sometimes would make out with a woman or have sex with a woman, but I really don't consider myself bi because gratification from another person for me is about the penis.

Whatever, don't fence me in.

So you're saying you like the penis? I just wanted to clear that up.

Bingo.  I went to high school with several of them.

Let's face it, biologically, if you touch the right parts it is going to feel good regardless of the gender of your partner.  If a person is into really casual sex, especially women where the taboo isn't quite as strong, then it isn't a surprise that they would be willing to experiment with bisexuality.

I pictured "flexisexual" to mean being flexible in bed.

What they are talking about is categorized as being bisexual in my book.

Why do they always need cutesy little euphemisms? Why don't they just say, "I'll **** anything that moves, especially if it makes me sound all progressive and enlightened."

The one before this was pansexual which evidently isn't jacking off into a cast iron skillet or stirring your eggs with a dildo.

I just have a couple of questions....as I have never heard of "flexisexual" until this thread...

Am I that naive?    :ashamed:

Flexisexual is their new and improved "hip" lifestyle choice. You know how they are about these kinds of things. It makes them feel all intellectual and progressive. From what I can gather being flexisexual means you'll sleep with anyone who's convenient. I have no idea whether that extends to animals or more than one partner at a time, though I'm pretty sure it includes furries.

Quote
What happened to "bi-sexual"?  :???:

Oh it's still there but I think most of us just aren't nuanced enough to understand the subtleties. Whereas flexisexual means you'll grab whoever is next to you and hop in the sack, bi is a lifestyle choice. Being bisexual means when you stick your hands down someone's pants you get turned on whether they have an "innie" or an "outie".

Hair color too! Since I've cut off my hair, I don't check out the hair styles any more, but I have been known to ask another redhead what she uses on her hair.  :-)  Red is a difficult color to maintain, and unfortunately can go either to burgundy or to orange.  :(

Oh crap Cindie!!! Have you already done it?

I picked it up by mistake, and used it a bit over a year ago. Turned my hair a burgundy/purple!!!! Cost me $125 to get it removed!!!

I went to the salon (an Aveda one) and the girl that does my haircuts, had to try to strip it all out. I had called L'Oreal and asked them what to do and they told me not to even try it myself. They thought I was calling to blame them, and I told them no, I grabbed the box, because it was the same face on the front as the one I should have grabbed...and I didn't think the color looked right when I had it on my head, but I had only used it once before and I wasn't sure.  :thatsright: I should have washed it right out, when it started changing on my head, instead of leaving it on the whole time.

L'Oreal told me the Feria colors are really hard to remove or tone down. You might want to try just a little bit that won't show too much to see if you like it.

It took Violet several hours to get my hair looking halfway decent. They were so worried, as "stripping" can cause the hair to break. When she got it out, instead of going to white or even blonde, it was TN Volunteer orange! I was in tears!!!! She put two different colors on it, then did high and low lights. Thank God, it didn't break off, or fall out!

I have been afraid to even try the one I should have picked up. I'm using Nice n Easy's Light Natural Auburn and it's doing just fine! and doesn't fade much at all and I redo it about every 4 weeks.

I've used it for a while. My natural color is a very dark auburn so this just makes it more red. And the black low lights mute the brightness quite a bit. A lighter auburn turns my hair closer to a strawberry blond which looks terrible on me.

That's great that you have already used it before. I thought it was a new color for you.

Amazing how some hair colors just do not work with our skin tones. I have to use gold undertones in hair, nail polish and makeup or I will look really weird. (weirder?  :???: ) The blue undertones, like in the ruby rush color, are a disaster on me.

I was a strawberry blonde as a young kid, then when my hair turned dark, I had reddish copper lights in it. The light copper-y auburn works great. Most people who have only known me as a redhead, have thought it to be my natural color. Helps that it goes with my personality.
