China has warned against military activity near its coastline ahead of U.S.-Korea naval exercises, according to Reuters.

China's Foreign Ministry said in an online posting that naval exercises risks starting a war: "We oppose any military act by any party conducted in China's exclusive economic zone without approval."

North Korea has also threatened to respond to military gestures with more attacks: "The situation on the Korean peninsula is inching closer to the brink of war due to the reckless plan of those trigger-happy elements to stage again war exercises targeted against the (North)."

The White House giving the order to turn around in 4....3....2.....................

Unclear from the reports as to whether they actually expressed this in any stronger terms than their normal pro forma objection to every other exercise we have ever held with the ROKs.

Well isn't the George Washington in international waters? What's this business about it being in their "economic zone?" I suppose they could extend that anywhere and for any distance they chose. Territorial waters are one thing, but an economic zone?  :whistling:

We claim a 200 mile exclusive economic zone off of our coast. Nothing new from the red chinese objecting to these war games
