ExGeeEye - Nice guess, but only close. It's Ensign Gerald Ford, future 38th Pres., while serving aboard the USS Montgemery during World War II.
-
What is the significance of this picture?
-
It is the hanging of the conspirators found guilty in the Lincoln assassination.
Among them was Mary Surratt so perhaps having a woman hanged or hanged with a group of men?
-
Hanging of the Lincoln assassination conspirators.
-
Alright Carl, way to go----- the other thing, they were hanged the day after sentencing, no time for appeals.
-
Try this one - who is the boy wearing the cowboy hat?
-
Joe Biden and Barack Obama?.... :-)
-
I don't know about the kid but isn't that Teddy Roosevelt's hat?
-
The stairs also need some tuck pointing.
-
Got to give it to ya Opfor6 - Don't know about the hat, but the kid on the left is Quinten Roosevelt, youngest son of Teddy Roosevelt. The boy next to him is the son of the then White House steward.
-
This one might be to easy -
What is FDR signing?

The only reason I thought he was signing another liberal piece of socialized legislation was because the one guy standing directly behind FDR appears to be smirking.

Can anyone identify this photo, time, place, and occasion?
-
Something tells me it's a flying posse going after Mexican bandit Pancho Villa.
-
I'm thinking something to do with the first dogfight or something.
-
I am thinking more along the lines of an investigation. Looks like they are looking for something.
-
They are investigating the crash site at Roswell
-
Eupher and thundley4 - you both got part of it. It's the start of the first aerial combat mission, March 19, 1916. After Mexico invaded the US in New Mexico, Pres. Wilson sent the army after Pancho Villa, with part of the forces being the 'Army Air Corps'. They didn't find Villa by the way.
