I just don't understand it. Workers and businesses don't deserve a 'buy nothing' campaign.
I'm designated part-time working for a retail business that decided to open Thanksgiving to accommodate folks who wanted to come out and buy something. That extra day meant 6 extra hours available for me at time-and-a-half. The local shopping frenzy the day after afforded me a full day of work.
There's a disconnect with some here from the real world benefits of consumer spending for workers and the businesses that folks depend on to survive, and the consequences of discouraging that commerce. There really isn't any noble or productive point (outside of some personal discipline) in emphasizing or advocating staying home on traditional shopping days that businesses anticipate and schedule help for. We desperately need and appreciate the business.

OK, a DUmmie with a bit of sense, i.e., without demand, unemployment will remain high.
But do the other DUmmies get that? You know, the ones complaning about there being no jobs? No, of course they don't.

1. Do you really not understand why calling attention to how and what we consume
is a good idea?
And, why is it always the consumers (i.e., the bottom 97%) who are enlisted to repair the ravages the top 3% have made in our economy?
I'm happy you got some hours, bigtree. I haven't had fulltime work in more than four years and this year won't be much in the way of holiday spending. But, imo, ANYTHING that makes people more conscious of what they do with the little money they have is a good idea.
Then quit bitching about jobs

2. Sorry, you do not deserve to have my money, I do. Today and every day.
Yet, taxpayers don't deserve OUR money, today and every day. Got it.

Well DUmbass...that's what you get for sitting on your ass collecting 99 weeks of unemployment checks instead of getting out AND LOOKING FOR A JOB!
:whatever:

27. Dude. You can either sit at home and feel sorry for yourself.

Or you can take a chance and work at changing the environment that we live in. You don't like what the top 3% have done to the economy? Set up alternatives to their offerings. Ohhh, is that too hard?
The internet had lowered the barrier to starting most businesses, particularly retail businesses where a person or small company can sell directly to consumers. You have a computer and I assume high speed internet. You likely have friends that are unemployed who have expertise at building websites. You can set up a Paypal account to allow fund transfers in minutes. You likely have parents, relatives or friends that are willing to hand you a couple of hundred, or even several thousand dollars to start an online business, if your concept and execution plans are sound. Does that sound scary? If so, there is nothing left for me to say to you, wallow in your misery and wonder what a better world, that you are doing nothing to bring about, would look like.

Agreed! No wonder liberal democrats are inept and short-sighted when it comes to the economy. The ignorance is astonishing.

Bluestate10 has to be a mole. If he were a real DUmmie, he would know from experience that family members and friends know better than to "hand" any DUmmie money because they know it will be spent on pot and Cheetos.

As similar as said primitive's name is to mine over here, that isn't my mole. I have repeatedly stated that I could never mole over there, as it would never make it to 10 or so posts.

Check out this little gem.

41. Does that apply to taxes, too?If one spends money, one gets something in return, too.
I think the OP point is along the lines of if we don't spend, in general, more people would get laid off.
Yeah, just spend more money. Lord zero has spent how much money on the economy? How'd that work out? FAIL! BIG FAIL!
People aren't spending money because they have no money to spend. A lot of people have had pay cuts or have been unemployed while the price of food, gas and cost of living has gone up. Get it yet?? All the DUmmies do is throw money from a helicopter and hope for the best. :mental:
