My town, in it's wisdom has raised Real Estate taxes again.
The town is small, has a large portion of Seniors, at the moment, a high unemployment rate.
House values are dropping like stones.
Some of us old timers who live on Social Security are in duck soup. As it is now, I have to save half of my monthly check..I'm not kidding...to pay my Real Estate taxes.
I would like to sell the house and get something smaller but the small houses seem to be the ones that are selling and I have no funds to buy another place while I still own this one.
I'm sure it is like this everywhere but it sure makes for a meager standard of living. Everything else goes to bills. Lean eating now, I'm becoming a chicketarian. When I buy meat, it is chicken-on sale.
Sorry, I just had to vent---again.

I thought taxes going up was a good thing.
Oh unless it is your taxes going up, then it's bad.

1. And it is a DIRECT consequence of the low tax mantra Updated at 3:29 PM
literally cities and towns have little recourse... not defending them... but it is a consequence of the broken philosophy that is pushed by the GOP.
Round these parts they raise fees... same reason.

3. Municipalities are hurting in this economy, they don't want to cut expenditures so you pay.
That's right they can't cut entitlements so you pay.

And it is a DIRECT consequence of the low tax mantra
WTF? The OP is bitching about taxes going up.
-
Municipalities cannot keep up with the sky rocketing health insurance premiums due to pending Obamacare.
This is what we like to refer to in the real world as consequences to actions. Say it with me, C-O-N-S-E-Q-U-E-N-C-E-S.
Your consequences are voting for Obama, supporting obamacare,... sucks to be you no SS COLA increase last and this year by the way, and living in a house you can ill afford (nice job working in your house is large without actually saying it).

I'm not nuanced enough to understand that post either. :-)

6. Good old MA. Home of Romney-care. Ugh!
Did I mention there are over 300 houses for sale in this little New England town. And many, many foreclosures.
Closed up stores, for sale and for rent signs everywhere. I guess this is typical America but it truly saddens me to see where we have fallen.
But, but, Lord Zero used Romney Care as a working example of ObamaCare.

4. K&R
The lack of any COLA's for two years is starting to seriously hurt those on SS.
Who is in charge? Have they gotten raises?

Yes, have you wrote to the lord zero about this? Maybe his teleprompter will feed you some more lies that you will believe and just fall back in line.
Oh,...by the way. If you think things are bad now, wait till food goes up even more so, your gas prices go up and the killer will be, your lord zero's Cap & Trade bill. Your lord zero.

But,....but,....HELLCARE will be good for all. It'll lower costs and we'll be able to put more people on HELLCARE. It'll create jobs. YOUR lord zero said so.
MA is just a sample of what will happen all across this Nation.

Low tax mantras lead to higher taxes?
How does that even work?

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure that one out. I guess I'm just not as smart as a DUmmie, otherwise, it would be as clear as the nose on my face.

So it was tax me more when you were a rich liberal but now you can't afford to live there.......and I hope you're so broke and poor that you can't afford to move away from the liberal hell hole you have made......oh....and have a nice Thanksgiving.
-
Yes, Romneycare is a stupid, stupid idea - that Deval Patrick made even worse by removing several caps that somewhat limited skyrocketing costs...
However DUmbass - as a resident of Massachusetts, you are aware that the legislature is overwhelmingly Democrat, to the point where a Republican governor is little more than a figurehead, right ?
And as a resident of Skin's island, you are aware that Deval's rework of Romneycare is the model for Obamacare, right ?
-
Hey Paper Roses, "Duck soup" means "Easy as pie." And if you're on SS, you should be enough of a geezer to know that.
And what's 'Wisdom' got to do with it? You have a town that delivers a level of service you and your fellow snivelers apparently demand, the money's got to come from some damned where. It's pretty simple that if values and occupancy go down, the assessments have to go up to make budget, it's just basic cash flow. You got the town you wanted, now pay up for it, moonbat.

Awesome, sir.
You said what I was thinking, and said it better than I could.
