War veteran barred from CCBC campus for frank words on killing
By writing the paper, Charles Whittington thought he would confront the anxieties that had tormented him since he returned from war.
He knew it wasn't normal to dwell on the pleasure of sticking his knife between an enemy soldier's ribs. But by recording his words, maybe he'd begin to purge the fixation.
Whittington's instructor gave him an A and suggested that he seek publication for the piece. The essay appeared in the Oct. 26 edition of the campus newspaper.
Two weeks later, the former infantryman was called to a meeting with high-ranking college officials, who told him he would be barred from campus until he obtained a psychological evaluation. "We all believe in freedom of speech, but we have to really be cautious in this post- Virginia Tech world," says college spokesman Hope Davis, referring to the 2007 massacre of 32 people by a student gunman.

I do not know what is more of a concern, a VET. that speaks of their feelings or one who hides them from the world.
On one hand venting is great for those that have undergone a horrid experience. Naturally that can cause problems when a great uncle comes to call and repeats his experiences in WW2 on a pacific island fighting the Japanese for the 60th. time.
On the other hand family members or neighbors that never recount their military days, seldom smile or laugh---these people scare me.
This man should get his education and if he still after getting a degree wants to go into some kind of service for the Foreign Legion or as a paid Mercenary, God keep him safe.
From what I hear male RN'S. from Canada spend a few years overseas then come to the USA and work in Trauma in the hospitals---- My daughter had a male night Nurse that told me all about his adventures a few years ago when she was in ICU at the hospital.
There are ways to turn about horrific experiences into a life of constructive and worth while work.

The liberals don't want to hurt anybody's feeellings. They're just looking out for the enemy, that's all. ::) :whatever:
-
Now we have Muslims getting away with all kinds of shit and they pick a Veteran to to bounce off campus.
-
As I see it, this community college is covering its legal ass. Kick the guy out until he gets a green light from a shrink. That way, when the guy supposedly goes postal ( :whatever: ), their asses are covered.
Asshats. :argh:
-
WTF is with the invoking Virginia Tech?
That little ass crumb wasn't a vet.
Suddenly vets are painted with the rampages of civilians?

TAH has more on it HERE. (http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=21294#comments)
I read the essay in question. If he is a vet, I hope he gets the help he needs.
If he isn't, I hope he gets his ass curb-stomped.

“Killing is a drug” vet turns out to be poser (http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=21731)
Army records say C.J. Whittington left the Army as an E-4 and his MOS was 92F, which is a petroleum supply specialist, serving with the 27th CS MSB, 4th BCT, 1st Cavalry (now Armored). His record does not reflect he received a Purple Heart or a Combat Action Badge. Army Times has interviewed Whittington, and he said he was not an infantry squad leader, but that he held a dual MOS: 11B and 92F. Thought y’all would want to know.

Sorry vesta, if the dude is fantasizing about the pleasure he received from killing someone I don't want him at MY bedside. Guess I should read his essay and the article before posting but ....

What a scumbag!

:censored:
I was set to defend the guy...and he's a f'n fake.
He may be a Vet, but he still made up all the other stuff. Maybe he really is dangerous.
-
Maybe in the future anyone claiming to be a Vet and writing for a publication should be required to produce a full DD-214, which should include MOS, decorations, medals, badges, citations, and campaign awards, total creditable service, foreign service credited and separation information (type of separation, character of service, authority and reason for separation, separation and reenlistment eligibility codes).

Anything to pick on a veteran; the Left hates the military and will do anything to ruin the life of even one soldier in their mad campaign to turn every American into a pacifist slave.
Isn't the Left always whining about how we need to care for those with mental disorders or stress more? Yup, liberals - always overflowing with compassion.

Yeah. As long as somebody else is paying the tab.
