When the shit hits the fan
and I mean really hits the fan. When mass amounts of people are on the streets and there is not enough of anything to go around, will America come together or fall apart? I think about this a lot. Is it in our national character to look out for one another or will it be every man for himself? Personally I don't feel a huge sense of community around me and that includes actual family members. I really wonder if Americans nowadays are up to the task.

3. It will be every man for himself for the most part.
Because the right wing have been successfully in destroying all sense of community and the press and industries helped.
And of course in response to it the right wing is stocking up on guns and ammo so that they will be the ones who have the power when the shit hits the fan.
Your projectionist union dues are past due. The left has done it's damnedest to destroy family and community awareness.

6. Not all people who stock up are RW.
When you are hungry and scared politics takes a back seat to basic survival. Most of the tough talking Conservative RW (I know) are basically chicken shit. No matter what happens there will always be an organized government element that knows what they are doing and will fill the vacuum. A vigilante Palin-Limbaugh-Beckster-reloading teabagger (the type who bring firearms to a political protest) does not stand a chance against modern day Ronin.

5. Just make sure you aren't anywhere near the city
Are you being racist, or just stating the fact that liberals in the city will go insane?

8. Exactly and have a stockpile of food and water so you don't have to get in a line.
Bread lines and socialism go together like Obama and Michelle.

These idiots just validated every precept of conservative rugged individualism.
-
Talk about fear mongering.
These people act like everyone is out to get them. Maybe if you're nice and stop insulting people, they would be more willing to help you out. No one should be depending on the government to pay their bills and put food on their table.
If I see people rioting in the streets and demanding free stuff, I will know exactly what political party they belong to.

And yet, have no idea how to go about achieving it, or even attempting it. :hammer:

Look at them crying about the lack of community and neighborliness, etc. But, if they would watch Beck's special from Wilmington, Ohio, (in early December), about how a community of 12K coped with the loss of 7K jobs, they would only snark and sneer at their belief in God, their old-fashioned values, and reliance on the churches to organize help. Their heads would explode upon learning they take no government money.
They are the blindest people I've ever seen, the DUmmies.

They need to put down the bong -- too much weed makes you paranoid! :mental:

Compare and contrast the liberal bastion of NOLA and the floods that happened in Iowa, Tennessee and other conservative areas.
That. Is. All.

In their minds everyone is...it is the basis for wanting their version of a messiah.

I've got no problem helping people who, in normal times, are perfectly capable and more than willing to take care of themselves without looking towards gov't to seek help. It's the one's who perpetually declare themselves to be in need of the gov't when they're perfectly capable of doing it themselves for whom I have no sympathy. Typically they can be identified by their use of the phrase "society rights over individual rights" which enslaves people to their ideology. They're totalitarians and fools, and I see no reason to unequally yoke myself to them because I know who'll be doing all the work and who'll be wanting to reap all the benefits, and they aren't the same person.

When you deliberately work to separate people by putting an impersonal government between them you lose your sense of community. The really sad part is it's the family that's been targeted most intensely. Men no longer need to have a sense of obligation towards their children. It's not necessary now because the government will be daddy and husband. He can even have lots of satellite children with no obligation to even get to know them let alone be concerned about their welfare. I know this is an incredibly nonfeminist, politically incorrect point of view, but men are naturally protective and will move heaven and earth to protect and care for their family. But why bother when they can just screw some ho' and walk on down the road to the next one?
While I realize this goes against your socialist god, capitalism breeds the exact kind of society you guys say you want. Selfishness is not a bad thing when it drives you to focus on the most important element in any society: the family. Don't want to work to provide a better life for them? That's okay, there's food stamps, welfare, and unemployment. After a while laziness and idleness become habit and people get used to just getting by. Children may not have the best life you can make for them but so what? At least you don't have to actually work.
But if you're looking for real community...join a church. When someone loses their job, has a baby, is in the hospital or any of a thousand other situations humans find themselves in from time to time you see real community. Whether it be a freezer full of casseroles, prayer, or just holding someone's hand this is the way entire communities used to be. You want to feel a sense of community, start with yourself and your family. Mouthing remorseful words about the loss of community while continuing to follow the selfish path of demanding handouts will never give you the society you want.

Another thread about "bllod in the streets" (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9619078) . I almost think the DUmmies realize that their socialist paradise is unattainable, but they'll keep pushing for it until the masses begin to fight back. Of course, they have it bassackwards about what is causing the misery.

Cindie, my dear, you certainly have a very distinct way of cutting through the bullshit.

You should ask the lord zero that very question Klukie. I would love to hear the answer off his teleprompter. ::)

So, DUmbnutz, unemployment is high but relatively stable, inflation is present but certainly no more than a pale shadow of what it was under Jimmuh, unemployment comp runs almost two years instead of just a calendar quarter as it did but a short time ago, and neither party is in oppressive or autocratic control of the Government. Just what makes you think things are suddenly going to fall apart and devolve into rivers of blood in the streets with cannibal bands haunting the ruins, besides a bunch of shrieking internet posters who make 'Keyboard commandos' look like honest-to-God SEALs? Hmmm?
-
Yet I wonder how many of the DUchebags knew that November 19 was National Buy Ammo Day? Much less actually bought a few thousand rounds.

Be sure to let me know this too. When the food and water lines get too long, I'll come to your house, stomp on your head, and steal your food, moron!

Is it feasable that the majority of the American population in the future could starve to death?
As the class-war from above intensifies and big business propaganda succeeds in making people apathetic about their situation, some say that people will only start protest once they realize they need their guns to hunt squirrels for dinner. How far could this war from above possibly go in your opinion before regular people become fed up with being shafted by big business and their propaganda and start revolting?

Hey, I liked this DUmmie line
propaganda succeeds in making people apathetic about their situation,
You lazy liberals have been apathetic about your situation for years. You've been on welfare, foodstamps, diability, all from the government and now that Lord Zero has busted it....you get worried..... :rotf:....I think that's funny.

Not to be confused with the pictorial display of the Dummys of Wal-Mart (http://izismile.com/2010/02/03/more_walmart_people_117_pics.html).

So its another "We'll kick their asses in the street" thread. They have been taqking from the Government for so long they wouldn't have one clue about survival in either an urban or rual enviroment that didn't involve going to a government run shelter and beg for cash or food.
