TSA: Some gov't officials to skip airport security
(AP) – 41 minutes ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — Cabinet secretaries, top congressional leaders and an exclusive group of senior U.S. officials are exempt from toughened new airport screening procedures when they fly commercially with government-approved federal security details.
Aviation security officials would not name those who can skip the controversial screening, but other officials said those VIPs range from top officials like Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and FBI Director Robert Mueller to congressional leaders like incoming House Speaker John Boehner, who avoided security before a recent flight from Washington's Reagan National Airport.
The heightened new security procedures by the Transportation Security Administration, which involve either a scan by a full-body detector or an intimate personal pat-down, have spurred passenger outrage in the lead-up to the Thanksgiving holiday airport crush.
But while passengers have no choice but to submit to either the detector or what some complain is an intrusive pat-down, senior government officials can opt out if they fly accompanied by government security guards approved by the TSA.

How true that is. It's disgusting. They must be reminded they work for us. I think November 2nd was a little wake up call. More to come! :-)

November 2 was just the beginning.

Not surprising in the least.. What is good for thee is not for me or thee is better than me and we will not be probed. :hammer:

My email to Senator Boehner:
Dear Senator Boehner:
I am writing you today, as the majority leader, to express my dismay and to protest the fact that our elected representatives are allowed to bypass the TSA screening process. You, Sir, and our other elected representatives, serve us, the people of this country. You are NOT above us. As I see it, you and the other elected representatives should be required to endure everything that the average American citizen has to endure. This does NOT mean that there should be special rules for you and the other elected representatives. This, in my opinion, makes you and others appear to be the "ruling class". That is completely UNACCEPTABLE!! You serve US!
I will admit that you did impress me when you declined to use Government aircraft for official business.
In closing, I hope that you will act on this matter and show the American public that Congress and the Senate are no better than the people that elected you. We are giving the GOP a second chance. DO NOT fail US!!
Respectfully,
Thor

Sometimes passion improves a situation.
But if you passionately decide to microwave the popcorn for 20 minutes, it's going to come out cremated.
Hi5s for everyone b/c I'm in a good mood.

Uniformed Service Members are exempt from it as well. So I know I'll be changing back into my uniform as soon as I get stateside.
