A nice poem about America for you on Veteran's day.

Normandy's precious stones
bittersweet rows in Arlington,
name her hard dowry

Numbed by sloth, violated by greed
tears stain blooded gutters
as corporate grooms
service our weary bride.

Please kick this for the AM crew....
(Never asked for anything here to be kicked before. Except Grantcart.)

You just can't let it lay, can you? Not even on a patriotic holiday. Not even for 24 hours. You just have to make it political.

Shove your lousy, nonsensical "poem" up your ass.

I thought Clifford was a big red dog.  My kids will be disappointed to find out he's really just a big blue dick.

Veterans days always make me feel weird.

(Reprise)

Especially when someone says "Thank you for your service." You see, I was an infantryman in Vietnam, but I did not serve willingly. I was drafted, forced into a deadly form of involuntary servitude, and whatever illusions I might originally have had about the rightness of the war were quickly torn from me when I saw what we were doing to the innocent people, the sacred soils, the beautiful waters and jungles and mountains of that tormented land.

"No, don't thank me," I want to say. "Forgive me. Forgive me for participating in that awful event in your name. If you must thank me for something, then thank me for joining the movement to stop the war when I got home. Maybe thank me for the things I have tried to do for the castoffs of society--the mentally ill, the developmentally disabled, the emotionally damaged products of chaotic and abusive homes who have gone on to fill our jails and prisons. But don't thank me for going off to participate in the destruction of a foreign land whose residents never intended any harm to you or me."

That shit pisses me off to no end!! My dad was not drafted but he and my mom chose the life of a military person and although my mom got out to get pregnant with me she still served her country. My dad did 20 plus years and was proud to say he was in the US ARMY!!!

Is it too much to ask to have some days where people show their love for those who served? or too much to ask for some to be patriotic instead of always finding a way to try to drag this Country down? bunch of miserable SOB's who lost the election because they're so out of touch with the majority of normal people.

Yes.  For the terrorist loving America hating ritalin chewing mouth breathers at the DUmp...it is too much for them to handle to let the U.S. reflect positively for even one day about our military vets.

Hi5 for catching that.  I let my anger get the better of me, and wasn't thinking clearly.

Now that is how I feel with the lazy taking from the productive. I am in involuntary servitude to fund a war (on poverty--our longest, most costly, and failed) And I see what it has done to the innocent souls of the inner city.

That Franks quote has also been attributed to General Mattis when he was in charge of the 1st Marine Division in Iraq. My favorite Mattis quote (and there are many great ones) is: "I come in peace. I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you **** with me, I'll kill you all"

Karin doesn't like the ugly libtard either.  Jackpine's post made me want to twist his head off and set it alight.  Or maybe set it alight first.  God I hate them some days.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

— Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

So Jackpine Radical you claim to have seen terrible things while serving in Vietnam and yet you did nothing to stop it? If you have ever truly served then instead of forgiving you for what you did we should be running your ass off to Leavenworth for allowing crimes to be committed against innocent people as you claim. Your kind of sorry assfuked candy ass liberal is probably the biggest reason why the US has the bad image that it does. You can,t stand it when the US does what it has to to stop Communism and the methods by which it goes about doing it.

You see DUmmie, it's jerks like you that have absolutely no respect for the military and our Country. Is this the reason you dislike the military/U.S.A., because you "unwillingly had to serve " as you put it?! Or did your mommy and daddy just raise you to be a red diaper doper baby? Either way, I think you're an ass. :bird:
