Ugh!! I have done it a few times. I usually remember the books I've read, but sometimes they change up the cover, and I don't remember reading it. I read so much that it is hard to keep up with all of the titles of the books. I could've just thrown that $10 out the window.

I have a couple a times, but now I read the synopsis and the first page. I also check the printing history to see how old it is. The book printers have a bad habit of reissuing old titles by popular authors with new covers and sometimes even renaming them.

That is why I now go to the library only thing I have to worry about is the late fees

Yes, this one said 2010. I know I haven't read this author all year, but I think they changed up the cover or the paperback came out this year. I read the back, and it didn't sound too familiar, but I guess I read this book a while back.

I was bad enough about returning movies to the place at the entrance of my neighborhood. I can't imagine how long it would take me to return a book. I am terrible.

Me too I have 3 books that are a week late now
-
Yeah. I hate when that happens. :banghead:

This does not bother me too much as I will re-read my books from time to time.
It is sort of like going home after awhile and seeing things that I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE.

In the summer of 1990, I bought a book and read it, and put it on a shelf.
In September, I went to Saudi Arabia, and eventually (for a few days) to Iraq.
I came back in March, stayed for a year, than packed up my stuff and went to Germany.
In the summer of 1992, I took the book off the shelf and read it again.
I had forgotten one of the major plot developments, and it surprised me as much as the first time I read it.
That was neat.

Yeah, that kind of stuff is cool. I'm talking about the kind of stuff when I actually go out and buy the book, read it, forget that I read it, then buy another copy.
If I could I'd bitchslap myself.

I always have late fees from the library. I pay them, though. It's not like there is ever a line of people waiting to read the stuff I check out at the library, though.
-
Yep, I do that. I was looking thru my 'haven't read yet' books yesterday, to take on a trip, found 2 copies of 2 different books. (http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/o/ohmygod.gif)

Not really... I tend to keep track of what I've read. Movies are a different matter, especially when I tune in halfway through.
