Title: Veteran's Day Thank you.
Post by: IassaFTots on November 10, 2010, 10:43:25 PM
I am honored to host my company's Veterans tomorrow, in our annual Veteran's Day Lunch.  We invite all of our Vets for a "social" to allow them the opportunity to swap stories, and be honored by their coworkers. We will all wear flag pins to honor them, all 750 of us.  At any rate, I came across this quote, and wanted to share it with all y'all Veterans here in the Cave.  Thank you so much for your service.  I am honored and humbled by your service.

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It... is the soldier not the poet,
...Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

As a way of saying Thank You, I'd suggest everyone head to Outback Steak House (or Carraba's) and give them a bit of your business.

They flew the staff and enough food out here to feed more then 4,000 Soldiers, Marines, and Airmen, as well as some of our coalition partners.  I don't know if they went to any of the other bases in the AOR, but just here alone was a massive undertaking for them that had to have cost them an unbelievable amount of money.

It's Not Enough.......

Somehow just one day out of the year devoted to thanking the men and women who, over the years gave of their time, blood, sweat, and tears for the rest of us just doesn't seem to be nearly enough..........not even close.

We are subjected to "black history MONTH", "breast cancer awareness MONTH", and the like, for all of the politically correct reasons, but those who are the "tip of the spear"......the single most essential element of preserving our freedom and liberty are honored officially for one single day

A flag flies on the front of our house every day...........it flies to honor all of you who wear, or have worn the uniform in service to this great country.

Every day is Veteran's Day for us......

A heartfelt thanks to all of you for your service.

I have been researching Veterans Day for months, to prepare for our Veterans Reception, so it was really on the forefront of my mind.

Where's my brownie?   :-)

God bless all of our troops past, present and future. Every day should be in your honor. I woke up today living in freedom secured by those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and protected by those who would willingly do the same. God bless you indeed.
