Steven Hayes smiled as he was sentenced to death by a Connecticut jury today for his role in the deadly 2007 home invasion that killed Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters.
Lawyers for Hayes said that their client was "happy with the verdict" and had "got what he wanted."
"The fact of the matter is that a life sentence without the possibility of release is the most brutal punishment," said Thomas Ullmann. "For [Hayes], this is an easy way out."
The jury unanimously found the death penalty the appropriate punishment for Hayes' role in the triple murders. He was convicted of the murders last month, and a separate jury was empaneled to decided whether he should be condemned to death or spend the rest of his life in prison.

Win-win, I guess. Doesn't bring the three dead people back, but perhaps spares potential future victims. No recidivism here.
-
I just want to know why it took 4 days for the jury to figure it out. After the evidence that they saw it should have been immediate.
-
Not that CT will EVER carry it out...

There was a question on whether the defendant "knew what he was doing" based on mental issues he had.
-
I hope for the father's sake, it is carried out swiftly. I bet Linda McMahon would have made sure it was more swift than butterface Blumenthol. However, I'm glad of the verdict. I hope hell's hot enough for the bastard. :censored:

There was a question on whether the defendant "knew what he was doing" based on mental issues he had.
There was also the fact that so many of the counts had to do with the death penalty and Connecticut has some long form that has to followed during deliberation or something for the death penalty.
The only way this asshole should have gotten life is if torture were allowed daily.

I hope CT will take out trash.

maybe in about 20 years they will.
too bad he's not in Texas; he'd be fertilizer in less than a year on Death Row.

Honestly I think Saddam had the right idea; wood chipper - feet first.
-
Wood chippers are messy. You can just hose out a trash compactor when you're done with it.
For some reason, styrofoam will not compact. Maybe we could throw him in with some blocks of foam and watch what happens.
-
HELL is still to good of a place for him to go to.

Not that CT will EVER carry it out...
My first thought. He'll live longer than both the children he murdered COMBINED before the sentence is carried out...if ever.

Not sure what to do in this case. It seems that a death penalty is stupid in this case -----life in prison is also stupid.
Would it not be cheaper and more cost effective to find an island in the south seas with water and game on it, fence it in and turn the [ sob] loose to fight for his own life.? Plenty of food, wild boar with those nasty tusks, some of those green snakes that live in trees and can if not kill, at least cripple.
Constant fear, sleepless nights wondering what is climbing in his bed. This would be hell for a man alone, worse then getting 3 square meals a day, medical attention and radio TV and some kind of com unication with humane beings.
This man should be TABO in human society, he has admitted to being EVIL, so box the ****er up and let him starve or die from nature.
Is this cruel or unusual, not as I see it, the monster has a chance to survive, he is not chained but free, he is just kept away from humans that he prays on.
He is not the only one, we have a home grown monster in my area---be right back with his story.

Only problem is human nature Eupher.
About 5-6 years ago a trio I believe of Allute tribe teen age's killed a pizza deliver in Alaska.
The Tribe went to the courts and begged that tribe law be imposed on the killers. The State courts agreed with them and sentenced the kids to live on an island by their own Witt's.
The Kids went onto the island and within 6 hours they were delivered food, shelter and weapons from the tribe.
2 weeks later the kids were seen off island visiting their family's, eating in town restraints and having a grand time.
The legal problems then popped up, if the kids were returned to the island, who would be responsible to see their family's did not jump in a boat and bring them home.
I have no idea how this was worked out, the kids had everything possible to live on the island and a sure trip back to civilisation by boat by family.

What, Spader and his little bunch of miscreants? They'll soon find out how badass they are when they're passed around like any other prison commodity.

If you're gonna do the whole island thing, I was thinking about something more along the lines of one of the Aleutians...no trees, no fresh water, no way to swim somewhere else.
Dump their asses off nekkid, and let the hilarity ensue.

Toss him in the croc pond.
It's a green solution.
Reeeeecycle Maaaaan.

The monster needs to be killed or hurt no matter how brutal he needs to be off the face of the earth
