So the plan was always to be Romneycare? What was all that public option stuff? All the other stuff?
From the CBS transcript of the 60 Minutes interview:
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, partly because I couldn't get the kind of cooperation from Republicans that I had hoped for. We thought that if we shaped a bill that wasn't that different from bills that had previously been introduced by Republicans -- including a Republican governor in Massachusetts who's now running for President -- that, you know, we would be able to find some common ground there. And we just couldn't.

So why did we have all the drama? What was the reason for all those meetings? And I thought the bill was crafted by the Congress?
What ought we anticipate on the bush tax cut extensions?
If I am misinterpreting any of this, serious, respectful refutation will be respectfully considered. If you just wish to come into this thread and snark, don't expect me to even acknowledge you.

4. i've said this the whole time
the republicans can sit back and criticize the hell out of it to incite their supporters and they got the bill they wanted and didn't have to risk anything to get it passed.
this is why the idea of "post-partisanism" is so ****ing ludicrous at this particular point in time.

5. +1
Who passes a law that gives the opponents things the opponent wants without the opponent even voting for it?
Harry Reid has got to explain that to me.

11. The entire thing is a cluster****.
Republicans opposing a bill they would have approved if Democrats hadn't pushed it.
And Democrats supporting a bill that is essentially a Republican bill.

See guys: we really wanted ObamaCare all along. So we tricked Obama into passing a federal version of RomenyCare because that has been such a proud GOP talking point lo' these many years.
But the best part is once we suckered Obama in championing it and the dems into passing it in the teeth of massive townhall and TEA Party protests we got our secret wish then used that passage as an electoral bludgeon against the people we tricked into passing the bill we all secretly wished for.
Makes total sense, right?
...
Yeah, I didn't think so either.

This is similar to the line of logic some moonbat I know tried to feed me.... that the Tea Party is secretly funded by KKKarl Rove. I asked why Rove is running around bashing the Tea Party then, it's because it draws attention away from the fact that he is funding it..... ooooh kaaaaayyy... Sort of like how Bush was smart enough to engineer 9/11, but not smart enough to plant WMDs in Iraq, or steal all their oil.
-
Romneycare was a huge failure, and unless he admits he was wrong about it no way could he win in 12.
-
Its as if Rove waved a single hand in front of congress while muttering "These aren't the bills you are voting for" and set the stage..

Another thread where they discuss how much ObamaCoup is a conservative piece of legislation:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9513746
Please let's start digging up all the threads about how people who opposed dropping 100 lbs of shit in a 5 lbs bag into the lap of every American was suddenly and unrelentingly labelled a racist.
Dear Lurkers,
Fact is you fought for this. You own it. You slandered all who opposed.
Now that it has cost you congress and a vast majority of the state houses does not mean you can suddenly pawn it off on us. This is yours.
Embrace it.
Oh and BTW - when we say we are pro-corporation that doesn't mean funneling tax payer mone into corporations. Getting government out of business means just that: getting government out of business. It doesn't mean using the government--run by lobbyist bribed pols--to compel a market.
But you already knew that. This is just the sniveling, dishonest propaganda you feed to each other to dodge your responsibility.
So **** you.
Oh and PS: :bird: too

Wait,...what?!? :???:
The only part you got right was your opening sentence DUmmie.
-
Once again Obama won't take responsibility for his actions.
He is going to spend the next 2 years blaming the GOP for his stupid health care bill.
-
Rove is a freaking genius...he tacked the word "FREE" onto that sucker bill and it sailed right through congress.
