2012 Senate Races: 25 Democrats up and 10 Republicans... How do we hold on to the Senate?

Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 07:47 PM by BrentWil
In 2012, there are 25 Democrats up.

We are playing defense in alot of places. Who is the most in danger? Which Republicans can we pick off? Is there a path for the GOP to gain 60 Senate seats? If the GOP get the Presidency and 60 Senate seats in 2012, we are ****ed. Of course the main effort is keeping a Democrat in the White House, but this is something we need to think about.

2. We'll get Teddy's seat back, and put a Real Dem in HolyWarJoe's

that helps.

Otherwise, it'll be tough.

Another reason for Harry to change the rules now to get rid of the filibuster.

3. Wouldn't it be an argument against that?

The GOP could have control of the Senate after 2012.

4. No. The more good stuff we got passed through the Senate

(even if it died in the Boehnerhaus)

The stronger the case we could make that the 'Pugs SHOULDN'T get the Senate.

Our Senate leaders never have the guts to use the filibuster anyway.

Yeah. This time the House passed Cap and Tax, and it died in the senate.  Which lost more dems?

Can't remember the election year it was, but the republicans took over the senate when the conventional wisdom was they were gonna lose it. Seems to me like maybe 2002 or 2004. Anyway... DU was all agog about the MSM saying the dems were gonna take the senate... or keep it... can't remember.

Turns out it didn't happen and Lo and Behold! Whenever someone went to the main page of DU there was that message popping up in a little box:

"All your senate are belong to us!"

Their heads exploded.

That was a good laugh.

So if the ten, which are the vulnerable RINOs?  Is it too soon to start looking for primary challengers?

Scott Brown is up in 2012.  He's probably one of the more vunerable ones.

Kyl, Lugar, Wicker, Corker, Hutchinson, and Barrasso are all pretty safe.

Ensign has some problems, and Hatch, if he doesn't retire, could face a primary challenge.

And half of Obama's "Comfort Girls", Olympia Snowe, might face a challenge, but probably not.
