Nov 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Teen trick-or-treaters who visited Daniel and Kathleen Harris’ house in Oregon were in for a really big surprise as instead of candies they were handed condoms and also given a lecture on safe sex by the couple. Though the couple wanted to spread awareness about safe sexual practices not all the teenagers’ parents were impressed by the generosity of the couple.
Kathleen and Daniel Harris said that they usually asked the trick or treaters whether they were above the age of 16 before giving them condoms but accidentally they also handed it to a 14-year-old girl. Daniel Cote, the father of the teenager found the gesture inappropriate and said that he was offended by the act. He said that it was hard for him to imagine that someone would give his child condoms without the parents’ consent. He also said that it was a matter that he would have preferred dealing in his own house in his own way. Kathleen Harris admitted that it was a mistake to hand the condoms to the 14-year-old and said that it was part of the package that included candies and toothbrushes. ...

At least they weren't handing out Bibles or copies of the Constitution that would be jail-able offenses. :-)

If someone had given me that as a kid, I would have taken it home, filled it with a mixture of water and paint and then given it back to them.

Actually seems like a pretty good way of telling the little moochers "You're too damned old to be trick-or-treating."

Yeah, but to tell them that they should be having sex? :hammer:

Why are 16 year olds trick-or-treating?
If a 16 year old comes to my door, I will tell them to drive to the store and buy their own candy. :-) Ok, maybe not, but 16 is too old.
And it isn't appropriate to give any kid who is not your own a condom. It just isn't.

answer : free stuff. trick-or-treat starts to make sense for totally different reasons at around the age of 13 or so. :-)
and something unfortunate would happen in my neighborhood if someone gave out condoms to anyone's kids, regardless of age.

I'd have to agree. Today's highschool crowd seems to be a lot less uptight than the middle school crowd. I asked an eighth grader what he was going for as halloween and he said he wasn't and that halloween is a bunch of bullshit for little kids. I asked a tenth grader and he said he was going as a zombie. Hard economic times are really starting to show on kids.
