I think this guy is spot on.  The military is not a social experiment.

Of course they can... after they loose the weight.

I admire his fortitude, but now that he's the top-ranking Marine, he'll never make to Chairman of the JCS.

This kind of chutzpah runs against the DoD wave of the future and from a political standpoint, he'll wind up looking all by his lonesome (officially speaking, that is -- plenty of other officers share his opinion but are loathe to express it).
