You guys will be happy (or perhaps sad) to learn that I have just been presented with some lovely granite. That being the case, I'm not too worried about my identity getting out here, although I won't intentionally reveal it (as that spoils all the fun).
Although I was not a top-tier DUer, I did merit a few mentions in some very entertaining DUmmy threads here over the years and was particularly hated by a few of you, at least briefly. Sadly, I was never able to make any "top DUmmy of the year" lists and was disappointed that my efforts went unacknowledged in that regard. Oh well, can't win 'em all, eh?
Having said that, I was not a troll or a mole. I was (and am) a very real leftist, at least economically - and my insistence on that (and repeated disparaging of The Great One as a result) is what apparently led to my unceremonious TS'ing. Very sad. I am just heartbroken at having been railroaded by the Gestapo for the Greater Good of DUetschland. LOL.
Apparently the cash cow of franksolich's fellow alum Skins is now safe from the looming threat of me. It's a bright new day in DUmmyland. I'm sorry that you guys will no longer be able to enjoy my posts, and that I shall never see the dream of being crowned Top DUmmy realized.

Since your post is lucid and reflects only a certain philosophical disagreement with our economic views, it's not hard to see why you never made the Top Ten...no tales of a kid in prison for drug dealing, no spittle-flecked ravings about the BFEE, no 'Peace be upon Him' or 'Blessed be his Name' after your Obama references, no bounce-a-rific conversions of 'Wingers' in a gas station....well, you get the picture.
It's kind of ironic that you persevered and struggled to stay on a site that is so transparently devoted to the personal enrichment of a triad of ruthless Capitalists, doncha think? Ah well, such are the small ironies of life.
A few here may say some things you really don't like to you, but as long as you maintain an affable persona and stay away from name-calling or flamebaiting, you'll be welcome. You won't get banned just for your economics being at odds with our beliefs, varied as those are.

I can't remember how many bouncies I did, but it was very few. All were true, although I can't blame you guys for being skeptical. I myself felt that a large portion of the "real life" stories were either being totally pulled from arses, or heavily embellished. DU was, after all, the home of TomInTib, among others. LOL.
As for the irony of helping Skinner ride the capitalist gravy train, it did cross my mind - many times. I viewed it as just "one of those things." Everybody's a hypocrite to some extent, although I'd have no objection to saying that Skinner might be among the more well-practiced.
I never really did spit-flecked BFEE posts or the like - not many, anyway. Bashing Bush just for the hell of it didn't seem too productive to me. Nothing is ever going to be changed for the better by any number of mouth-foaming BFEE posts, so why bother. Plus, it's silly. Although I did not like Bush one iota, he was an elected American president. The people wanted Bush and they got him. If you want one just for fun, though, I can oblige:

We have no political loyalty tests here, as a matter of fact you may encounter other former DU members if you remain long enough. Simply follow the board rules, and you'll have no problems, short of the usual hazing.
Your posting capability and other functions are restricted until you reach fifty posts, beyond that and all forums and capabilities are available to you.
We have a large number of both serving and former military members, therefore should you have problems with the military, it would be our suggestion that you keep those to yourself.

Also, let's not be as silly as DU is and try to imagine that you guys aren't going to slam me with personal attacks left and right if a debate does happen. It's okay though, I'm pretty thick-skinned and not too easily hurt by all that (unlike the hypersensitivity brigade at DU, who scream "homophobia" because someone does not include "I'm pro-gay marriage" in every post, or "RACISM" if you criticize Zero).
Then again, I have my own little pet issues - but you guys couldn't hurt me on them. What hurt me was the so-called "progressives" attacking it. The same "progressives" that care oh-so-much on paper (except checkbook paper). You guys are expected not to care. The left is - although once again, it bears repeating that DU ain't left. It's liberal, and that's something else entirely.

Out of complete curiosity, what websites or forums do "people of the left" go to? My grandparents were democrats back in the day, but they weren't liberals by any means. So, if old school democrats really exist, where do they hang out on the web? I would love to read what they think, because when my grandparents spoke about politics, they sounded pretty conservative to me.
And about the avatar, if anyone could pm me about how to do that, I would appreciate it. I just want to load something off the web, not a personal picture.

Welcome! Many of us have lefty friends and family. Generally, we don't disown someone because their political leanings are different. If you don't really want to debate politics look around. We have plenty of areas devoted to other interests. Might help everyone get to know you without an ideological debate.

This is old history, but even when he was on Skins's island, I promoted--escalated--catapulted--him out of primitivity into that exclusive class, the non-primitives on Skins's island.
I haven't ranked the primitives (by tiers) for about two years, but with nominations for the TOP DUmmies OF 2010 coming up in three weeks, I guess I'll keep it on the back burner, ranking the primitives, for now.

Oh yes, I definitely have been reading franksolich a long time. I find some of the best DU threads by coming here. It's like a convenient indexing service to find the most interesting threads, some of which I end up agreeing with - and some of which are just totally whacky.
But yeah, I enjoy reading the Top Primitives and what-not, it's entertaining. Perhaps I was the unterprimitiven? I dunno.
I think many of my former fellow "primitives" read you, although they wouldn't admit it. There's always a ton of guests lurking here. And admittedly, part of my reason for being here right now is to to annoy some lurking DUers as an admittedly rather passive-aggressive form of revenge for my unceremonious dumping.

Oh yes, I definitely have been reading franksolich a long time. I find some of the best DU threads by coming here. It's like a convenient indexing service to find the most interesting threads, some of which I end up agreeing with - and some of which are just totally whacky.
But yeah, I enjoy reading the Top Primitives and what-not, it's entertaining. Perhaps I was the unterprimitiven? I dunno.
I think many of my former fellow "primitives" read you, although they wouldn't admit it. There's always a ton of guests lurking here. I was on the verge of being banned. I had not been on my best DU behavior ::). I actually feel honored to have gotten the hammer. And if Skinner had any balls at all, he'd have told me why I got banned. I asked twice. I got ignored both times. So, I can only guess as to why I actually got banned. I also made it clear to him that any PM or email I ever sent to anyone wasn't for public posting. I had to make that clear since he has posted people's PRIVATE messages and emails to him. I have nothing to hide, but damn what asshole does that???

I think we should all have food, shelter, and medical care as a basic right. Although I do think most of us will have to work, to be able to accomplish those things as a nation. Still, I think no one should ever go hungry, no one should ever die of exposure or from lack of medical care.

I always do wonder about the number of multi-millionaires, such as Ian McKellen and George Soros, who profess socialism. Seems like insanity to me. If they are truly socialists, why do that have so many resources that should be redistributed to the more needy? How, exactly, can an economy be run on need?
I also wonder about the number of alleged environmentalists who spout leftist drivel when communist/socialist countries have the worst record on the environment as well as issues of individual rights.
Finally, after watching Law and Order UK for the first time last night, I am wondering what the difference is between "human rights" and individual rights. It seems to me that if individual rights are protected, everybody's rights are protected, whereas the "human rights hoax" seems all about dividing us up and creating "special rights" that are capricious and, ultimately, unfair, and lead to the greatest misery for the greatest number of people.
In other words, leftism, when examined in the harsh light of reality and how humans actually are, seems to lead only to misery and poverty for all but the very, very few at the top.

I've had my eye on him since he posted a F*** jobs post in the poverty section. I was astonished that someone could be so unabashedly proud of thinking that work is for suckers. He was taken to task by some who say that pride in a days work is a worthy goal in life.
Token, if you are who I think you are, please note that I will never agree with your economic ideas. They just aren't sustainable, and worse, I think your ideas create false scapegoats out of those who want to work (or at least understand that some type of labor is essential to survival). I am heartened by the fact that you don't appear to be an extremist on other issues that many of your cohorts are.
