Obama Signals Compromise on Tax Cuts
(WASHINGTON) — A chastened President Barack Obama signaled a willingness to compromise with Republicans on tax cuts and energy policy Wednesday, one day after his party lost control of the House and suffered deep Senate losses in midterm elections.
Obama ruefully called the Republican victories "a shellacking" and acknowledged that his own connection with the public had frayed.
(Read about where the rout leaves the Dems.)
At a White House news conference, the president said that when Congress returns, "my goal is to make sure we don't have a huge spike in taxes for middle class families." He made no mention of his campaign-long insistence that tax cuts be permitted to expire on upper-income families, a position he said would avoid swelling the deficit but put him in conflict with Republicans.

I consider myself a pretty typical democrat. I voted for Hillary in the primaries but quickly and totally moved my allegiance to Obama as soon as he won the primary. I've defended his actions here on DU against those who are farther left than I am.
If he capitulates on letting the Bush tax cuts expire, I'm done.

use it, that's telling.
tax cuts to the top 2% = the biggest cause of the deficit.
Hannah Bell, you ignorant slut.
Tax cuts to the wealthy = $700M/10years
tax cuts to the rest = $3 trillion/10 years

4. He really didn't learn a thing, did he?
He's sealing his fate as a one-termer.
He did that with ObamaCare, the UAW bailouts and a couple of other things.

Tax cuts are HURTING the economy? Really?
If the tax cuts are not extended, it's said that families in our tax bracket will pay an extra $225 (that's at $40,000/yr, we make more than that) a month in taxes. We're guessing around $300 more a month. I'm sorry, but that's money we do not have. Letting those tax cuts expire and then having the Obamacare taxes start, it would be financially devastating to our family. We would have to chose between feeding ourselves or paying the electricity bill.

Kennedy cut taxes. GDP skyrockets.
Reagan cut taxes. GDP skyrockets.
Bush cut taxes. GDP skyrockets.
Seeing a pattern here?
Oh, and spending COULD help? TARP didn't help banks make more loans. QE1 failed. QE2 WILL fail. Porkulus failed. So how much spending exactly is necessary?

The thing that the DUmbasses do not understand is if the tax hikes come or not it is the uncertainty that is killing our economy.
It is the uncertainty of what new business killing legislation the Regime will come up with that is killing our economy.
It is the huge capital vacuum that running consecutive $1.5 TRILLION DOLLAR deficits that is killing our economy.
It was the suspension of common law for GM and Chrysler bond holders that is killing our economy.
It is the fact that we have a group of inexperienced and book learned socialists in charge of the government that is killing our economy.

I can't help but wonder how many of our supposedly brilliant leaders could even change a flat tire.

Mind you, these are the same morons who endorse consumer-sided economics for no reason other than Reagan was a supply-sider. If not for Reagan they probably wouldn't even know the difference.
But, one must ask, if money should be coursing into the economy from the consumer side what good how shall it start if it is consumed by taxes?
Naturally, they will say they are referring to poor people spending as if rich people never spend money, they just go home and roll around in giant piles of money.
Unless you're a liberal's daughter having a $2 million dollar wedding in which case it can be justified as a stimulus to the local economy. But apart from that rich people NEVER spend or invest money. EVER.

Excellent point MSB. Why don't the liberals/DUmmies complain about that?! 2 million for a wedding? :banghead: :banghead:
*EDIT* But, then they'll say that earned it and it's their money. Exactly DUmmies. Same with the people who started businesses or have worked hard their whole lives, it's THEIR money. Who are you or the imposter, for that matter, to decide where someone else's money goes, i.e. redistribute the wealth?!
