Title: The latest meme: voting against their own best interests
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on November 04, 2010, 03:43:38 PM
A quick survey of DU reveals that with the election of people like Allen West and Marco Rubio the racism card has run its limit. They won't confess as much but the silence is deafening.

Ditto the sexism canard with Whitman, Angle, O'Donnell, Palin, Haley etc being so prominent (and their attacks beng so vicious).

The newest excuse offered is "repugs vote against their own best interest" and the squealing about the election being bought is just a soft echo of this same excuse as if we can't sift through the advertising BS.

Dear Lurkers,

WTF makes you think you know what is my own best interest? Who the **** are you to tell me how to plan my own retirement, educate my own children or what the hell ever I decide to feed my family?

And you wonder why we call you elitist assholes.

Maybe you need someone to micro-manage your lives. Fine, you don't deserve the liberty you were accidently born into and I see no reason to spend American blood to save you. California ain't worth the price of water to break a hajji into saving your dumbasses from whatever conflagration they have plotted for you. All the really nukeable cities are in blue states where anti-war sentiment runs the highest and I'm OK with that.

But stop projecting your worthless lives onto everyone else while trying to cloak it in benevolence.

If you gave conservatives their legislative agenda you would be free to form whatever hippy communes you think you could manage. You on the other hand want to rule our sodium intakes and demand we read "Heather has 2 Mommies" by the light of some shitty-ass, headache-inducing CFL.

If you hate us so much LEAVE US THE **** ALONE!

But if you insist on telling us what is in our best interest and then deny us the means to choose for ourselves we will stand up and tell you "No!"

Just because they need a daily printout from the government on how to run their lives doesn't mean we all should live that way.

Might as well just ask....the smartest president we've ever had has not shown any paper work to back up his claim.

To a DUmmy with their grade school emotional and mental maturity level a persons "best interests" are what they can be given.
They do not grasp that an adult has moved beyond that selfish and greedy give me the biggest piece of cake mindset so for a person to not vote in a way that presumably gives you something for nothing just is unfathomable to them.
It is like a small child telling Santa Claus to stay home.

I had a bit of a debate with a DUmmy type in the comments on an article section of the online version of a local paper.
He was insisting that Republicans only worked for the good of the rich and didn`t care about me to which I kept telling him I had no interest in what anyone had more then I did.
I would make my way through life for better or worse,on my own with self respect.
He just could not imagine the idea.

They've been saying the "voting against their own best interest" nonsense since someone told them that was a topic in the "What's the Matter with Kansas" book, written by the imbecile Thomas Frank.  Actually at this point it's way past getting old.  They need to come up with some other excuse as to why everyone should ignore their own life and vote the way the modern-day left would have them vote.
