Oh my.

From the rather tame "Ask the Administrators" forum on Skins's island:

Why are threads discussing 2012 alternative Democratic presidential candidates locked as flame bait? I think we have a legitimate reason for political debate discussing what the alternative could be if the Obama Administration continues to flounder and the DNC continues to make mistakes and ignore the obvious.

Thanks for listening.

1. Flame bait is admittedly subjective

And first of all let me say that discussions of a Democratic presidential primary in 2012 are permitted on DU. Now, having said that, we give the moderators some guidelines to help them determine whether an OP might be flamebait or not. Here is how some of those guidelines apply to your locked thread:

Does the OP contain actual substance? Does it seem like the author put effort into writing the OP? Or is it a throw-away topic with little substance or effort? ... Topics with little substance or effort are more likely to be flame bait.

Putting up a thought-out, reasoned post about why Hillary Clinton should run against Barack Obama in 2012 is one thing. But if your entire OP is "Hillary Clinton 2012. There I said it. Let the chips fall where they may," then you are taking your chances that the thread might end up locked.

Hope that makes sense.

2. Oh, you mean if I made an attempt to give concrete reasons why she should run, unlike so may other throw-away threads that breeze on for weeks?

Thanks, I will do a dissertation the next time I bring the subject up, I promise. Or at least add a few dozen extra words.

Not a good way to get on Lord Marblehead's good side.

Wow...and my ex-girlfriend continues to insist I was a megalomaniac...

It is precisely idiots like Lord Marblehead here who lend credence to the assertion that leftists have some psycho-sexual obsession with attaining and increasing power.

I would be exceedingly curious to learn just how many of the proletariat primitives have applied for promotion on the Island. I suspect a great number of them have.

I'm just sayin...

if we had that rule here, every thread I posted would get locked. :rotf:
