Blue Dogs Lose in Numbers, Progressive Dems Gain
Harry Truman: “Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time.â€
Progressives Caucus remains intact, becomes a plurality of House Dems

Due to extensive losses by conservative and moderate Democrats, another shift in power occurred in the House last night besides Republicans taking the majority. The Congressional Progressive Caucus has replaced the Blue Dogs and the New Democrats as the plurality ideological caucus among House Democrats. For the first time ever, the CPC is larger than Blue Dogs and New Dems combined.
Here are the specifics, assuming every House candidate who is currently ahead stays ahead. That would mean a Republican majority of 243-192, for a net Republican gain of 64:

Here is a finer level of detail that separates out the duplicates, and looks at the five types of ideological caucus members among House Democrats with full voting rights:

As freshman Democrats join new caucuses, and as the Blue Dogs turn to their waiting list, these numbers will change. However, even after those changes, it is highly likely that Progressives will hold on to their new plurality among House Democrats.
Losing the House is painful, and will cause lots of problems for two years (or more). However, it does give us an opportunity to reshape the ideological composition of the House Democratic caucus in a positive way. Imagine if we can retake the House with the CPC maintaining this new plurality.

So basically, the fact that blue states stayed commie pinko somehow equates to a validation of lefties even those massive quatities of those who voted for them got stomped.

4. Here we go again the Blue Dogs were voted out because they
were too conservative bullshit. They got voted out because because they backed the HCR bill that the people in their districts were dead set against. There is no way in hell a progressive Democrat would get into office in their district to start with. That is exactly the opposite argument the Republicans are having with the Teabagger faction. Do you people really believe you can get a progressive majority in congress by just winning seats on the east and west coasts?
Freeper troll!

I love all their crackpot theories. They will be chasing rainbows and unicorns for some time to come. Meanwhile, people with their heads outside of their asses, and firmly screwed on, can run the show.
Someone's mole should encourage these myths....promote hardcore progressive leftism in all districts, take the Deaniac 50 state strategy district by district. Knock on doors! Contribute money!
They're not even aware that "progressive" has become a dirty word.

I was just on the island reading a different thread asking the same question and there was some sanity regarding the fact that just as there are areas where only a RINO can win over a dem there are areas where a liberal won`t ever win either.
The other thing I keep seeing is the insistence that because supposedly a lot of money was spent against Grayson and Feingold that is why they lost.
No comprehension that the message didn`t appeal to the public.

The statistics prove it: Nov 2 was a national mandate for progressives
Right. Here's some more "truths".
Fire doesn't burn, and water isn't wet.

"Progressives" in Congress are typically the result of gerrymandering and the support of low information voters.

Sort of that same idea occurred to me, sir.
Aren't a great many "progressives" from blue cities run by corrupt Republican party machines that do the voting for the people therein, so the people themselves don't have to do it, or are dead, or are fictitious?
I bet most of those "progressive" races were noncompetitive, and automatic wins.

You need to fix the verb tense in your last sentence. Has become would seem to mean that it hasn't always been.
I still remember when the Progressive Democrat Cacus was hosted on the Democrat Socialists of America's web site. Yupo, little known fact that goes largely unreported.
Of course they dove for the cover of progressive when liberal was turned into a dirty word with most people not knowing the history of the far left House Progressives.
To me it always has and will be a dirty word when talking about 'liberal' democrats. To me it it the proverbial 'dog whistle' for socialist fellow traveler.

I suppose they also thought Reagan's '84 trouncing of Mondale was also a mandate for progressives.

How well I remember.....the drunken flaccid carbuncled old Tipsy O'Neill, Dem Speaker of the House, insisting a 49-state sweep was "not a mandate."
Yeah, the old boozer actually said that. Out loud. In front of television cameras.

Kudos to doc03 telling them the truth, of course they don't get it.

Progressives, the "new" democrap. How did those midterms work out for ya? ;)

Looks like they stocked up on turd polish before the election.

Zeitgeist:
most people not knowing the history of the far left House Progressives.
Well, yes, hence my verb tense. Hillary Clinton stood up there and said she was a "proud progressive, like those of the early 20th century." Nobody batted an eyelash, even though so many evil things were done under this banner, including Eugenics.
The last two years we have seen a vast wave of self-education. Witness the Amazon ranking activity of "Road to Serfdom."
