Yeah, I do seem to recall something about a convertible and a "call me" just as Mike pulled away. That doesn't 'splain the wallet, though, unless Charlie had one of those wallet/cell combo jobs.

Rename show..."Jake and his Dad" ...with episodes like "Bonding Charlie out", "Visiting Charlie at rehab", "Charlie does Vegas" that ones half made already.
