Do the Repubs need 20 seats or 40 seats to take majority in House??

After all, if the Democrats lose 20 seats, that means the Repubs gain 20 seats. That would be a 40-seat turn-around. But the Repubs would only need to "win" 20 seats to take majority. Is that not correct?

I keep hearing the pundits say the Repubs need 39 seats to take the majority? How do they get 39 seats? If they win 19 seats, they will have 38 more seats. If they win 20 seats, they will have 40 more seats and the majority. Right?

These are the folks that call themselves the smartest on earth too.

Kentuck...

There are 435 Representatives,to gain a majority the Republicans have to gain 39 seats currently held by dems.
That means 39 dems lose which takes away from their total and assuming no independents involved puts them in the (R) aisle.

It is no more difficult then that.

Reading KY's post made my head hurt. What point is he trying to make?

Anyway... this is the race that I'm interested in the most. Bela Pelosi is gonna lose her little wooden hammer.

This is the same kind of math they used when figuring up how Obamacare would "save" money.  Just as with (D) votes...gotta count it twice!!

And it wasn't just any booze...Crown Royal, Chevis Regal, Greygoose.  Several times a year and with a thousand extended family members.  This country will save a boatload of money right off the bat when Queen Nancy is fired.

Next year The Speaker of the House can stand up and say, "Since republicans have taken control of the House, we have cut the military budget by umpteen million dollars....Queen Nancy's flamily boozing trips have been discontinued."

They're so funny when they try to think.  Well, at least as long as you don't hurt your brain trying to actually follow their alleged thought process, as if it actually led somewhere.

 :loser:

It does lead somewhere, DAT.  One of the VRWC's black ops has been to send small teams to find where it leads.  None have returned.  We're thinking "black hole."
