I just got a new Blackberry and I usually love the brand until I got this new one. The stupid touch screen sucks I am so mad I am ready to turn it in on Monday and go back to my old one. Not only does it sign me off of my YIM at least a dozen times a day it repeats messages to people in my contact list over and over again. Any suggestions for a better Blackberry or any I phone people out there?

I have a storm II. what was your last blackberry? the touch screen takes a good bit of getting used to.

the transition from the curve to the touch screen is very, VERY painful. I stuck with it, and am very happy with my storm now.
a few pointers: hover over the key for a fraction of a second before you depress; the letter should "pop up" before you click. never "cross over" your thumbs; if the letter is on the left side, use your left thumb. mistakes happen when you try to "cross over".
I do IT for a living, and I have had quite a few touch screen users that begged for their curves back.
the storm is a good device. you just have to learn it.

Right now I am ready to put it under my car and back over it a dozen times. I am sure people on my contact list on YIM are ready to strangle me for the repeat messages
-
What makes me nuts is here to I try going into a topic and I get a profile it is annoying

pay particular attention to the very point that your finger makes contact with the touch screen. you can't use physical buttons like you used to. it is all muscle memory; once you have it, you are once again prolific in the blackberry world.
and I share your pain; back when I had a "ball curve", I swear I could type 30 words a minute and still have a conversation.
the storm is a very cool device. stick with it.

I will btw how long did it take you to master it?

it took a few weeks. very painful, annoying, and sometimes agonizing weeks. it is all muscle memory; every keystroke you make gets you closer to proficiency.

I had one for 5 days before I got my Treo and hated it....took it back and got the Treo.
I need to go in and get new phone, my 2 yrs was up back in the spring, my Treo has been dropped too many times and won't ring, back falls off, and a few other things. I think I'm going to get a Droid, just can't figure out which one to get.
Runnin' Buddy got a new Blackberry back in the summer. She loved her last one, but hates this one. She took it in last week before we went out of town and they said she had a bad battery and they gave her a new one. It was working better, but she was barely using it while we were out of town, because the rates are so much higher. I guess she will find out when she comes back next week if the battery was the issue. I do get repeats of texts that she sends me all the time. Usually the message only repeats once, but every once in a while, I will get 3 of the same message...one right after the other, :whatever:
She hates my phone, though, cause she says it's harder to use than a Blackberry.

treo people and blackberry people are like fire and water. :fuelfire: I still have a running gunbattle of a debate with a pal of mine over the various advantages of the blackberry vs. the treo.
ultimately, it's not about the device. it's about the coverage. and that varies from place to place.

I have Verizon, she now has Sprint with her new one. Her rates are better, but there are places around the county that Sprint does not work very well, and her phone doesn't work worth a flip from her office - she's one or two levels below ground. I can't afford to be somewhere out in "Bumble" with a phone that doesn't work properly. Not only is it bad for business...it's a safety issue, for me.
The biggest problem I have had with the Treo, is that I couldn't access my email with it....which was the whole purpose of me getting the damn thing!

we just went through that whole horrible ordeal with a corporate contract; verizon was higher in cost, but worth it.
it's all about the signal strength, debk.

How is a Treo differant than a Blackberry? I love my BB for my quick emails
-
I spent almost 4 weeks thinking I made a terrible mistake with the storm2, now I love it although screen response slows down with age.

Nowadays? I have no idea.
Back when I got it, the BB had double letters on each key and the Treo didn't, and it was just easier to learn. I couldn't access my email on the BB either, so getting the Treo for it didn't make a difference. Supposedly it has something to do with my email server....according to Verizon. Though I think they told me that to just get rid of me...I had 3 new Treos within about 4 months, because there were "issues" with the first two. :censored:

I literally had a hammer in my hand at one point. the only reason that I didn't smash it into a million pieces is that the damn thing rang. (it was my mother, so I pretty much had to answer it :-)).
I actually wore out the screen on my first storm -- well, I wore out the "A", "S", "E", "O" and "P" keys. try sending an email without those babies. no real moving parts, and I still wore it out. I text A LOT. :-)
