Title: Jeb Bush says 'you betcha' about Palin
Post by: Wretched Excess on October 22, 2010, 08:48:48 PM
"Yes" is the automatic answer to that particular question, but he had to vigor of his convictions to be up front about it, and not couch it in politician-speak.  others have been less bold.

this does not in any way diminish my respect and admiration for GWB, but as the Bush brothers were running for their respective governorships of FL (Jeb) and TX (George), my preference for any future presidential run was, at the time, Jeb.  George won, Jeb lost, and the rest is history.  having said that, I think that the country should thank God that someone with the convictions of George W. Bush was president when the islamic terrorists struck on 9/11.

I just found this interesting.  perhaps others will, as well.

TRENDING: Jeb Bush says 'you betcha' about Palin

(CNN) – Former Florida Republican Governor, Jeb Bush said Friday he isn't running for president, but would support Sarah Palin if she were to run.

In an interview with CNN Chief National Correspondent John King Friday, Bush - whose brother and father are former presidents - said he'd support former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin if she were the Republican presidential nominee in 2012.

"You betcha," Bush said in an interview set to air on CNN's John King, USA at 7 p.m. ET Friday.

And what kind of Republican does he think would make a good 2012 candidate?

"Big and bold and aspirational that has a positive agenda that will compare, I think favorably to that of the president," Bush said. "We can't just be against the president's proposals, we have to offer up compelling alternatives."

there is video at the link, if you can bear the annoying commercial that precedes it.  I am sure that Jeb meant "inspirational" when he said "aspirational", but apparently using "not quite the right word" runs in the family. :-)

Jeb is THE most conservative member of his family, much more so than his father, certainly, and I'd say he's got his brother beat as well. What concerns me most is that GW may well have unintentionally poisoned the well for any presidential aspirations on the part of his brother. Alot of it is, of course, the media and their poisoned pen brand of "journalism." As a president, I'd predict that Jeb would far outdo his father and brother and much more closely match up to the Reagan legacy of which 41 and 43 fell short.

From the standpoint of a non-Floridian, I'd say that the bigger issue is "No way can we have a third Bush in the White House. Bush squared is one thing. Bush cubed screws up the historians who would have a hard time keeping all those Bushes straight."

It would only screw up liberal historians that suffer from BDS.
