It stays in my head all day.
I saw a car that went up under an 18 wheeler. Didn't look like anyone could survive that, but you never know. It made me feel ill though. :(

I just read on the news website that there were no serious injuries!! I can't believe it. The car in this pic isn't as far under as it was when I rode by it. I think they were removing it.

That is a pretty nasty looking accident. :o
-
YEs it was. I was just reading up on it, and the woman didn't even have to go to the hospital. Just a scrape on her elbow!! :o Amazing. God was definitely with her!

Having been in a very serious car accident, that made the news and the front page of the paper.....I find it ghoulish that they are on the news and in the paper.....particularly when someone dies either at the scene or after arrival at the hospital.
It is awful for the family members to see.....and what purpose does it serve the general public? There but for the Grace of God?
When my daughter, my brother and I were clearing out my dad's apartment...I happened to open my dad's Navy memory book from WWII that my grandmother had done for him. I opened it to read, only to have it fall open to the place where my dad or someone had stuck a picture from the paper of our accident. To say that it was traumatic for me...is an understatement...I had never seen that particular picture. I could have gone the rest of my life not seeing that picture.....
(I'm not criticizing you at all, Soleil, please don't think so )

No, I totally understand. The wreck that killed my brother made the paper. It wasn't on the news. At least not to my knowledge. There is some weird morbid curiosity that a lot of people have for some reason.
I am sure that was an awful thing to see. There really is no reason in showing the badly damaged car. It is bad enough to accidentally ride by something so scary looking.

Thanks, Soleil for following up and posting your edit that the lady was uninjured. The photo is so chilling. I was in an accident in 1994, and the sound of crunching metal will forever cause nightmares.

She sure had her guardian angel next to her in the car

Yes, and thankfully no one was in the car with her. I don't think a passenger would've survived, but then again, I didn't think the person in that car would've only had a scratch on her elbow.
It made me sick when I passed it this morning. I was thinking about it, and I couldn't get it off my mind. I am so happy everyone was ok. There was a picture of the woman at the scene in the local paper. She had a cigarette in her hand. I thought, yep I would need a cigarette too!

I saw a fatal accident last weekend. Didn't see it happen, but saw the police tape and the mangled cars. It looked really bad, at the time I didn't know there was a death. I just assumed it was a fatal accident because of the police tape. The road was completely closed.
My husband has to go into wrecked rental cars to retrieve their navigation. He has seen so many cars where people have died and he still has to some how get in the wreckage to pull them GPS out. Some cars had blood in them, but those cars are considered a health hazard and he cannot go into them.

Ugh! It makes me so sick to my stomach. I couldn't do what your husband does. My brother, a Trooper, has to deal with fatal accidents on almost a daily basis. Not sure how he does it. How do you NOT take that home with you?

In high school, we had a power point presentation to do on a subject in our computer class. I picked DUI. Most of my power point was pictures of wrecked cars in DUI accidents. I heard a lot of people in my class get kind of squeamish, but it was worth it to me. Only because I feel so strongly about driving under the influence. I won't get some of those images out of my head either. The teacher gave me an A+ for it.

I always wonder how accidents turned out when I see them. I guess the one good thing about the paper posting this pic was that I know the person in the car escaped with no injury.
I've been in some accidents myself. 3 of which could've ended very badly. It happens so fast, yet it is slow motion. It is something you just can't forget. It is like your life really flashes before your eyes.

I am sure the pictures were squeamish. We had some Troopers come to our school to show and tell us about the devastating things that can and do happen while DUI. It certainly makes you think twice. And even sadder it seems more innocent people are killed by people DUI. Not that I wish death on those that do DUI. My brother is a prime example. DUI and it killed him. I am thankful THANKFUL he took no one else with him.

We just had a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD girl busted drinking and driving in Las Vegas on Tuesday. She hit a parked car, neighbors called 9-1-1. Then she drove her car through someone's house, owners called 9-1-1. It was 6:30am on a school day and she took her mother's car. Classy. She's lucky she didn't kill someone.

No joke. Will she face charges? Surely she will.

Yes. I'm hoping she will be denied a driver's license for 25 years.
