British angler Jeremy Wade looks understandably anxious as he grapples with this ferocious-looking 'giant piranha'.
The 52-year-old caught the aptly-named goliath tigerfish during a fishing expedition up the Congo River in Africa.
The brave fisherman was forced to hold the fish at arms-length for fear of being bitten by its razor-sharp teeth while posing with it for the camera.

And then let him GO?!?
Jeeeeeeezus.............................. :mental:

Jeeze! Look at those teeth! Funny..they're more like spikes than razors. I wonder if this fish has evolved to specifically bite through bone? I guess if it also has to bite through croc hide....hmmm.
I was pleased to read he let it go, though. The pictures are all he needed; no reason to kill such a magnificent animal.

Another of many reasons you will not find me in the Congo River!

Ha! Me either. It is bad enough in the MS river with some of those gigantic catfish, but there is nothing in that river that looks like THAT!!

WOW! That thing is a monster! I can only imagine the bite that sucker has. :o

This was on TV. It was on "River Monsters," on Discovery or History. What a show it was! It was like a horror movie in real life. I'm not going anywhere near the Congo. Congrats to the dude for finally landing it.

Correct on the spiky part, they're too widely spaced for shearing, useless for chewing, and therefore appear to be mainly fish-catchin' teeth. Once those babies slam down into something, it'd have about zero chance of ever getting loose.
