Runners and Rallies Will Not Share Toilets
By JULIET MACUR
Published: October 6, 2010
WASHINGTON — The Marine Corps Marathon here bills itself as “the people’s marathon.” As the largest marathon in the world that does not offer prize money, it expects a field of 30,000 runners for this year’s race, on Oct. 31.
But apparently the inclusive spirit does not extend to the portable toilets.
Runners in the marathon and participants in rallies organized by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will share the Mall on the Halloween weekend. On back-to-back days, they will take to the same streets, walk on the same lawn and enjoy the same scenery, with the Capitol as the backdrop.
But Rick Nealis, race director for the marathon, said that on Oct. 30 he would put metal padlocks on about 100 portable toilets he was setting up around the Mall for the race day, when the marathoners will be joined by an additional 10,000 runners in a 10-kilometer race.

But Rick Nealis, race director for the marathon, said that on Oct. 30 he would put metal padlocks on about 100 portable toilets he was setting up around the Mall for the race day, when the marathoners will be joined by an additional 10,000 runners in a 10-kilometer race. Organizers for the simultaneous rallies on Oct. 30, which will have Comedy Central personalities as hosts, asked Mr. Nealis to share the toilets, promising to contribute to the cost and have them cleaned before the marathon’s start at 8 a.m. the next day. (The rallies officially end at 3 p.m.) But Mr. Nealis would not concede that precious territory.
“I understand that they were having problems ordering Porta Potties, that they might have to go as far as Baltimore to get them, but I just didn’t want to share,†he said. Mr. Nealis ordered 800 portable toilets — a big portion of the available toilets in this area — which will be spaced along the marathon’s 26.2-mile course. He said he usually used plastic strip ties to keep interlopers out of the units on the eve of the race, but was tightening security this time with “real, live†padlocks.
“It will cost me a few extra pennies, but it’s worth it to know that my runners won’t run out of toilet paper,†he said.

You must have been posting that as I was finishing up mine. Great story regardless. Off to the DUmp (no pun intended) to check their reaction. :evillaugh:

Man, I would love to see Stewart and Colbert get their smarmy asses throat-punched repeatedly after trying to commendere the toilets.

I'll settle for watching 30,00 of their smarmy followers crap themselves after trying to hold it all day.
-
More than likely the lefties will vandalize the locked toilets, or just crap wherever they find a suitable spot.

They will crap everywhere. Look how they left it last time! NOW I CAN REALLY SAY THEY ARE FULL OF CRAP!!!! :lmao:

That's what I'm thinking. These two cocksuckers will incite the crowd to fall upon the toilet area and do damage to the locking security for their own usage or just destroy them entirely.

They are sure going to have a shitty day that is for sure :evillaugh:

On a serious note ( bottom line, a clean place to poop and have toilet paper is important!!) Porta-Potties are expensive to rent.
Friends of ours own a Porta-Pottie business(there are only 2 in our area), she is a breast cancer survivor, and they donate the use of the potties, for the Race for The Cure every year. It's a significant donation....both in necessity for several thousand walkers and monetarily as a donation.
To let the rally people use them on Saturday, the potties would not be cleaned for the racers on Sunday, without a very significant extra cost. If I was one of the race organizers, I would be worried that not only would the potties not be cleaned and restocked with TP, but that I wouldn't get paid for the extra day and cleaning by the rally organizers. Especially, when the race organizers only ordered 100 potties, and the article said to accommodate that many people would require 271 potties, those 100 would be seriously nasty!!!
