The actor died of a staph infection, according to TMZ, which first reported his death.

I remember his very distinctive voice. Spoke slowly, but clearly. Always had a smile.

More sad news indeed. But with Barbra an Tony in Breaking News that makes what I believe in hockey the call "the hat trick" for dead entertainers.

He also did a 1969 Night Gallery episode where he played a down on his luck man who sells his eyes to a wealthy woman played by Joan "No Wire Hangers!" Crawford. The episode was called "Eyes" and was directed by an unknown dirctor named Steven Spielberg.
