Anyone here diagnosed as being allergic to caffeine?
Can you tell me what your symptoms were and what has happened since you quit coffee and other products that contain caffeine?
I have had several problems lately and the first-or one of the first things my doctor told me was to quit coffee and other caffeine products. After only 4 days, one of my problems is significantly better.
Just wondering if others have experienced problems. I have been a coffee drinker for a million years. Two cups every morning. Never considered that it could play havoc with my system.
More testing to go but this is one no-cost test.
I have miserable insurance and am afraid to pursue this.

1. IMO you have an addiction to coffee
not an allergy. Hang in there because you will have withdrawal symptoms.

5. Please don't give medical advice on DU. I assume you are not a medical professional, and even if you were, you have not seen this person and discussed his or her situation. DU is a discussion forum, not a clinic. Typically, this type of thread is full of misinformation, bad advice, and generally not useful to the person asking the question. This thread will be locked shortly, I'm sure, since such threads aren't allowed. When people have medical questions, the only people they should listen to are their medical professionals.

2. Listen to your doctor...not to people on a discussion forum.

3. Excellent advice
Thee are a lot of sound medical reasons to avoid caffeine that don't involve an allergic reaction. If you have one of those reasons, listen to your doc and avoid the stuff.
You'll get used to it, promise

4. Having trouble with caffeine consumption does NOT = allergy to it.
More like you are just very sensitive to its known effects/side effects
If it doesn't agree with you, don't consume it.
Having studied a great deal of immunology, I am perturbed by the trendy overuse/misuse of the term "allergy" in society today.

6. Again, you do not have enough information to address this person's situation, even if you have medical training. Please don't offer medical advice on DU. It's against the rules of this forum, in any case, and for a very, very good reason.

OK, but trouble is, if/when Obamacare kicks full in, all the doctors will retire and go fishing. The only place any of us can go for medical advice is our discussion forums.
"Frank, does this look normal to you?" :lmao:

Somehow I doubt caffeine is the cause for this . . .

Seriously, they consider "if you are having a reaction to something, avoid it" to be medical advise?

It's that old joke retold.
Patient: Doc, it hurts when I do this!
Doctor: Then stop doing that!

Friend: "Have you seen a doctor?"
Patient: "No, just spots."
