The CVS inhaler article reminds me of a time we had an employee near death at Target
It's very interesting how people in the retail business don't seem to have any common sense or ethics. The CVS news article about the inhaler reminded me of a situation we had when I was a manager at Target.
I was upfront at the check out lanes when a team member (employee - one who had earlier asked to go home due to feeling ill and was denied) was walking through the checkout lanes and collapsed in the middle of them. Suffice to say she was rapidly deteriorating and was near death making sounds I never even knew humans could make.
I immediately got on the phone with 911 and was put on HOLD due to high call volume. (welcome to the south) While I was on hold with 911 I a series of events transpired which made me lose all faith in humanity.
Prior to this team member collapsing I had gotten on a checkout lane to help with an excessive number of "guests" (customers) that needed to check out. I had been in the middle of a transaction when this situation occurred. The moment I saw this team member collapse I told the "guest" I was checking out I had to go call 911.
WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH 911 I felt someone tap my shoulder. It was the person I was checking out. She wanted me to get off the phone with 911 to finish checking her out, even though a person was on the ground near death just a few feet away from us. I turned my back to her and focused on the call. I imagine she walked off because I never saw her again.
After this people just walked over the team member that was on the ground as if she wasn't even there.
So realizing that 911 was going to be a little while I got on the walkie and called our pharmacist. (being the only person on staff with ANY kind of medical knowledge that I could think of) He came to the checkout lanes and refused to help. Just stood there watching.
Then I got on the walkie and asked the operator (the person who handles the phones/intercom at a Target store) to get on the intercom and ask if there were any doctors/nurses in the building if they could come up front.
Fortunately our store was located literally 5 minutes away from a major hospital and a doctor WAS in the store. He came up and rendered aid. 15 minutes later an ambulance showed up. After she was taken away the doctor told me had he not been there she very likely would have died prior to the ambulance arriving.
Oh and what was the end result for me? I was written up. Seems our store manager (who was in the building at the time and couldn't bother to get her fat ass up front to even try to help during the entire ordeal) felt that the announcement I asked the operator to make "disrupted the guest experience" at the store and "made guests worry they could be in danger thus stopping them from shopping".
I often believe that 80+% of the population is sociopathic. That day sealed the deal on that belief for me.

3. A teacher I know collapsed at school and the school nurse refused to help her
I've seen nurses at school refuse to give adults bandaids and ice packs. They claim they are there to treat kids and only kids. And only kids whose parents have signed the consent agreement.
I can't imagine being a health care professional and refusing to help a sick or wounded person.

9. My last casino job: If you collapsed at a game you were dealing, you got physically dragged into the middle of the pit and another dealer or floor supervisor was immediately put on to take your place. Then, someone might have gotten around to calling the paramedics for you. There could have been identical tables with no players on every side of the one with the sick dealer, but they wouldn't ask the players to move tables or anything. God forbid the house lost a few chances at $5 bets during a crisis.
I saw it happen twice in six years.
****ing Boardwalk. Now the home of the unfinished, Dubai wannabe City Center. Strip between Flamingo and Tropicana. One eyesore traded in for another.

DUmmie lawyers have put the fear of the lord in 'em....DUmbass.
Doctors used to carry their "Little Black Bag" everywhere they went ....when was the last time you saw a doctor carrying one?

It's not just the lawyers.
It's the people who were once in distress turning on their former caregivers.

when I was a manager at Target
Now he claims he was a manager? Being in charge of cleaning the restrooms is not a manager.

Yeah.
In previous posts, the twitboy primitive had alleged himself a "team leader."
I'm not up on nomenclature, but I suspect a "team leader"'s not the same thing as a "manager."

The entire story is complete horseshit.
I will never understand the need these idiots have to just make shit up out of thin air in order to either make conversation, validate themselves or both.

I would say this guy is lying, but there was a news report in Italy the other day about a guy who was mugged near a train station and knocked into a coma. The same video showed other people walking past the guy laying on the ground. I guess that is some of those sophisticated, urbane European values the primitives mutter about.
-
It never ceases to amaze me that DUmmie life is so dramatic. My life is so completely dull in comparison. No wonder they are all on medication. :thatsright:

I think it's BECAUSE they're so heavily medicated, and not necessarily in a legal way, that these bouncies keep coming.

There are so many holes in this story it is pitiful.
First,to deny time away due to sickness would bring an untold liability on an employer, you just don`t do it and that is the reason some places stipulate a physicians note to prove it is legit.
Second,I do not believe for a moment that if this event were real folks would not be distracted and would never demand that a person ignore the one in distress.
Really lame and contrived not to mention that twix has never mentioned it before.
He would have been spouting off about it years ago if it really happened.
For all his talk about why he "left" Target was this ever brought up?

Yeah but now they all have to compete with a DUmmie who used his BARE HANDS to beat the living snot out of a 'TeaBagger' with a knife!!
The bouncies .... they are about to become EPIC!

It happened in New York a while ago. Someone was mugging a woman and a homeless man stepped in to help her. Perp stabbed the homeless guy and left him for dead. People walked by for close to an hour before anyone called 911. He died on the street. Nice way to say thank you for stepping in to help someone. :(

Can't a person in the medical field get in trouble for "refusing" helping someone in distress? Didn't something like this happen in NYC not too long ago, where 2 EMT's were on their "break" and they didn't a person in need of medical help? I believe they got into trouble.
-

I worked at Target years ago.
A team leader is just the "captain" of a team, they do nothing. They are not in charge of anything. They just carry around their little papers that make them seem important, but they are not. The team leaders make sure their team mates are taking their allotted breaks on time, though. That's probably super important.

Carl hits the nail on the head. For all his endless stories about Target, and nothing else incidentally, this one tale showcasing the "compassionate liberal values" never came up?
Wasn't this guy supposed to have moved to Portugal or somewhere?

Reminds me of the story---actually happened two Little girls riding home on a school bus, both girls had asthma. One of the girl had an attack and had forgotten her rescue inhaler. The other child had hers and knew how to administer the drug to save her life.
Up shot of the day, the 7 year old girl was expelled from school for giving her friend a prescription drug that did not belong to her.
There was talk of Juvie Court and going to drug awareness program.
Only after this hit You Tube did the school board back down and the child was honored as a hero for saving her friends life.
We wonder why our youth today are crazy, only have to look at their teachers to understand why.

I was once crossing a busy street in San Francisco, land of liberal compassion, when an old man walking opposite of me collapsed in the middle of the street in front of me. As I tried to help him back to his feet, at least two dozen young healthy San Franciscans stepped around us. I couldn't get him up by myself and was asking, can someone help me? Finally, after the light changed and cars were honking their horns at us, a black gentleman in business attire came to our aid, helped me get the guy on his feet, and out of the middle of the street.

Liberal compassion is stealing money from another person to pay a public union member to help someone.

Speaking of libeal compassion, in the Demokratik Socialist People's Republick of Santa Moniknuckistan, CA, I witnessed a scene that, had I been of more unbalanced temperment, resulted in the death of a driver of a vehicle.
The incident in question occured about a block or so from the VA hospital (San Vicente at Wilshire) where an elderly gentleman was trying to make his way across Wilshire to get to the VA hospital. I can only presume that the gentleman in question was a veteran, but by his demeanor and USMC shirt he was wearing, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet.
He was using a cane, and didn't move very fast--apparently not quickly enough for the bitch driving a car eastbound on Wilshire who was totally laying on her horn and literally SCREAMING out her window at the guy to move faster because the light had turned and you're holding her up, blah, blah, blah.
I'm just glad he made it across. And to the woman who did that, if you're still on this planet, I hope you die in a ****ing fire, bitch.

Was that before, during, or after you just stuffed an entire 16 layer wedding cake into your pie hole?

Twix-fag was the sole manager of urinal scent cake maintenance. Including taste testing for freshness one week after deployment...

A dull life is best!
More time to just screw around, more time to drink beer, more time to BBQ, more time to relax, more time to hang with family and friends, more time for hobbies, more time to thank God for all HE gave us, less time to worry about the hell on earth, and...MORE TIME TO MAKE FUN OF TEH DUMMIES!!!111

This "bouncy" is complete bull shit! When I was workin' for Home Depot, we had an elderly gentleman collapse in the flooring dept. Everything in the store stopped!!! One of the managers was summoned immediately, an ambulance was called, and he was escorted to the hospital with the manager riding along with him!
The guy came in two weeks later and thanked us all for our actions! The manager got a certificate of merit from the local FD EMT's for his quick action!
I believe this is common practice in all major chains! Managers are required to go thru CPR training! Even at the dreaded, evil WalMart!!! Also for your information, a Pharmacist is prevented from administering aid! The store could get the holy shit sued outa them! I know this to be fact, my daughter is a future pharma in training at Wally World!
And not once have I ever heard of an employee complain of being sick, and denied the option of goin' home! Every manager I know of would skedaddle your happy ass outa the building for fear ya might be contagious and transmit your ailment to other employees! More than once we were decimated from the flu virus and were forced to work with about half of the normal associates on duty! Seems like it happened every year after school opened after summer vacation! Those damn kids bring all sorts of nasty things home from their school mates!
Total Bull Shit, "TwitTheGirlieMan"! Oh, and rarely if ever does any kind of a manager at Target operate as a cashier! You're full of shit!
ETA:
If you were a manager, you would have the authority to have someone take your place while you dealt with the situation! Manager my ass!
