Title: BHO : I'm a "tax and spend liberal", "no such thing as shovel ready projects"
Post by: Wretched Excess on October 13, 2010, 04:02:42 PM
this guy needs to give more interviews without his TOTUS.  in a single interview, he just vanquished at least a half dozen more house dems that were fighting to keep their heads above water.

newsflash : the flaccid stimulus was indeed limp.  he had a lot to learn about being president.  he was full of crap about "shovel ready projects".  the guy that has decried "old washington games" has been committing and falling for them since he was inaugurated.  please, mr. president, keep talking.

it just continues to amaze me that these were "the smart kids" in 2008.

Obama utters words 'tax and spend liberal.' Republicans drool.

Around elections, presidential candor – even in limited amounts – can be politically awkward.

So at a meeting Wednesday morning with reporters, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was at pains to tamp down reaction to comments President Obama made for an interview with the New York Times Magazine that will be distributed this Sunday.

In the cover story, by reporter Peter Baker, Mr. Obama admits to learning “tactical lessons” in his first two years in office. He let himself look too much like “the same old tax and spend liberal Democrat,” the president said. When it comes to public works programs, the President said, “there’s no such thing as shovel ready projects.” And he raised the possibility he should not have included tax breaks as part of the stimulus bill and instead “let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts,” thus casting the aura of bipartisan compromise on the legislation. And the story said the president is spending time with key aides mapping a changed course for the next two years.

"There is no post mortem” underway, Mr. Gibbs told reporters. As to the magazine’s report that White House insiders think the administration has a communications problem, Gibbs quipped he was “sort of used to it.” In the magazine story, Gibbs is quoted as saying “I haven’t been to a policy-problem meeting in 20 months.”

Republicans were quick to jump on the president’s comments. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) sent out a press release titled “Obama Acknowledges Stimulus Failures – Does Bishop Agree?” The sub-head read "Twenty Days Until Election Day, Self-Proclaimed ‘Tax and Spend Democrat' Admits There is ‘No Such Thing as Shovel-Ready Projects.' "

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I do not trust this imposter at all. Every other word out of his socialist mouth is a lie! :censored:

Agreed, it's a good day when Obama doesn't have TOTUS with him.  It helps the others wake up and see what the Tea Party has been saying isn't a bunch of crap.

I just love watching this kind of meltdown.

Teh Messina (sic) just gave republicans all over the country lines of attack for a last burst of aggressive attack ads, or impossible-to-answer debate topics.

someone *cough*cough*cough*barackobama*cough* really doesn't think about anyone but himself.  ever.

if there is no such thing as a shovel ready project, then there was no reason to pass the flaccid stimulus in the first place.  it was, as many if us have maintained all along, one trillion dollars of payoff, graft, and abject waste.

Obama is coming to Las Vegas on the 22nd to campaign for Harry Reid.  Should be fun to watch that nail hit the coffin.

That's going to be one highly screened audience.  They are counting strictly on the news coverage to get the word out since Lord Zero will be preaching to the choir.

The one thing that pisses me off the most about Obama coming to Las Vegas?  He or his people seem to think it's SMART to drive down The Strip around 5pm.  Thankfully I do not have to drive anywhere near that area anymore.

Honestly, why would you want the president of the United States on Las Vegas Blvd to begin with?  That seems like the most unsafe option.

I heard he wasn't welcome in Las Vegas.  He's going to be even less if he screws up peoples' traffic.

This article is rich.  I'm going to troll the DUmp to see if they're talking about it.

Obama's New York Times Interview
Many progressives seem to be wringing their hands tonight after reading the text of this weekend's New York Times Magazine interview with Obama, mainly because he seems to be capitulating to the Republicans 3 weeks before the election, while at the same time trying to fire up the base. He even went as far as to cite a perception of himself as a "tax and spend liberal," playing right into the Republicans label of choice. What exactly was he thinking here? Is this some sort of strategy? For the life of me, I can't understand why he would say this stuff when he's having enough trouble motivating the "professional left." What do you guys think?

It's not an entertaining thread enough to bring to the DUmp (unless you think I should).  They are very morose.

Here's a sample:

21. The interview is pretty disheartening to this Democrat
who is working like crazy to get Democrats elected here in Alaska. Thankfully, not too many people read the New York Times up here. It's almost like Obama is trying to lose.

but life gets better;  I believe Sarah Palin will be in Reno on Monday the 18th, and in Las Vegas on Tuesday the 19th.

Sarah Palin coming to Reno with Tea Party Express
Arriving with the first stop of the Tea Party Express' nationwide tour, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will make an appearance in Reno next Monday, according to local organizers.

The GOP's 2008 vice presidential candidate will speak in front of the Washoe County Republican Party Headquarters at the Sierra Marketplace on 3652 South Virginia Street at 10 a.m., according to a flyer released by Ralph McMullen, chairman of the Washoe County Republican Party.

The rally is sponsored by the Tea Party Express, a national political committee based in California. The tour heads to Elko later Monday, then to Ely and Las Vegas on Tuesday on the 15-day trip that ends in New Hampshire on Nov. 1.

I think Obama and his cronies are a bunch of pimps and prostitutes (HEY, if the Dems can call Meg Whitman a whore, I think I'm being nice)http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/10/08/jerry-brown-campaign-apologizes-after-aide-called-meg-whitman-a/

What better place to "strut their stuff" than the Strip in Las Vegas?

OTOH, I'm certain most of the night ladies give value for money.  Maybe this president and his maladministration can learn from them?

As far as safety concerns, don't worry, Evil_Conservative, you and your fellow Las Vegans will be totally inconvenienced for his comfort and security.
