I hate to be a downer - I really do. But seeing that miner being rescued made me think (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9305367#9305441)
when was the last time we saw something so moving and spectacular in OUR country?
Seems American miners are treated like dirt. They are just left to rot and die.
Didn't you DUmmies claim that when the 0bumbler was elected/inagurated that it was the greatest moment in history? Most of your pansy asses were crying.
I can think of a lot of things that were moving & spectacular...the DUmp thread just devolves into mostly a hate America pile-on.

Well, tell ya what, DUmmies, we do a real good job of NOT burying our miners, and when it DOES happen, it's thankfully a rare event.
You should go work in those "paradises" you so dearly love and see how great the working conditions are there. China lost something like what, 3000 miners last year?

Actually, the "official" toll was 2600. But they don't count them all, DUmmies--some estimates run as high as 10K per year.

All nine of the exhausted miners, soggy and blackened with coal dust, have been rescued from the flooded Quecreek coal mine, after being trapped 240 feet underground in a cramped, partially flooded chamber for more than three days. The first miner, 43-year-old Randall Fogle of Garrett, Somerset County, was brought up shortly before 1:00 a.m. He complained of chest pain and was flown by helicopter to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown where he is doing well. Just fifteen minutes later, the second man, Harry "Blaine" Mayhugh of Meyersdale, PA, was brought up in the 22-inch-wide rescue capsule, followed after a similar period of time by Thomas Foy, age 51. In regular intervals the rest of the men were then brought to the surface, in an order that the miners basically determined among themselves, based on their conditions. John Unger, age 52, was the fourth man pulled to the surface, followed by John Phillippi of Gray. Ron Hilemand, age 49, was brought up from the mine at 2:10 a.m. Dennis J. Hall, age 49 of Johnstown, followed at 2:20. a.m. Robert Pugh, Jr., age 50 of Boswell, became the eighth miner to be rescued about 10 minutes later. Mark Popernack, age 41 of Somerset, and the last miner out of the mine, emerged to a cheering crowd at 2:45 a.m.

It was a big American company which brought in the tools to rescue those miners, DUmb****. The dude Hart was the older brother of my neighber in Texas.

They have no....imigination, or compassion, or any ability to empathize no matter what they may claim. Even the event of the rescue of a bunch of miners basically caught next door to hell isn't enough to make them do anything but rip on America.

The Chilean people are wonderful. I get a smile every time one of them come out of the mine. This is really a great experience to witness.

I'm thinking the first Tuesday in November, 2010, will be fairly moving and spectacular in our country. Not sure if the CatWoman would agree... :-)

Had to deal with one of those a few years ago. He was a snow-plow operator and considered himself an expert. I worked in aerospace and met Alan Shepard.
They're insane I tell ya....
