Language Debate: Perhaps those who obsess that English should be the "official" language of the U.S.

ought to study the language more closely themselves.

I don't know what the statistics are in the U.S., but in Canada it's estimated that 42% of the population are either functionally illiterate, semi-literate, or function only up to a Grade 6 level. There is a problem here.
I would suggest that some of those who hypocritically put down immigrants and others for not learning English well (and it's a hard language to master) study it a little further themselves.

We can all use a little refresher now and again.

That maybe is because Canada is a lot more socialist then the USA but given a chance you DUmmies will reduce us to that level too.

1. I think it's mainly the ignorant who want the official language status for English.

Now that is a clever, insightful debate point from one of the superintelligent. :whatever:

2. I agree, we should require every government document to be printed in every language spoken in the
U.S. and we should require every product and service offered for sale to be priced in the currency of every language spoken.

Uh-uh you must not challenge the accepted lib-think with a sarcastic but correct arguement.

5. That would only be the case if ALL languages were considered "official"
your argument is a classic strawman. Not having English as an official language does not mean that currently every government document is prented in every language spoken in the US - or this would be the current practice.

I don't think I could find my state's drivers test written in mandarin, portugese, or tagalog (or many others) but I do know folks in this state who speak those languages.

Sorry but this isn't a binary issue of "1 = English as official Language" or "0 = All languages must be respected and all gov't. doc.s and currency must be printed in all spoken languages". Nice try, though.

That is called using a lot of words to say absolutely nothing. :loser:

8. It always amazes me - the ignorant who barely know the grammar
of English, getting affronted over the existence of those who are actually functioning in a second language!

No DUmba$$,it bothers me they are functioning in it here. :censored:

This idiot misses the entire Boat of Logic.  It isn't about grammar.  It is about communication.

Gawd, they are idiots!

I propose we make Latin the second national language, just behind English.

Latin being the language of history's other great civilization (and empire, muah-ha-ha-ha!).

Uhhhh, maybe their  illiteracy rate would DROP if there was just one official language, ya think?

Canada there are probably just as many French speaking people as there are English speaking people. Soooo, maybe THAT could be a contributing factor to their  incredibly high illiteracy rate?? The DUmmies sure won't be able to blame on it poverty and the disenfranchised, because after all, Canada's socialistic utopia is in full effect there.

I just got some paperwork from my Dental insurance.
Because they are based in Kalifornia, they now have to provide all of their forms in about 8 different languages, including Korean and Chinese.  They sent me a form in each of the languages they now have to be able to print, read and process.  All this means is that I will be getting less for my dental insurance dollar, now that they have to waste money printing all those forms and processing them in 8 different languages.

Let me sum it up for you DUmmies...SPEAK ENGLISH OR GET THE **** OUT OF MY COUNTRY.
and think about how many trees were murdered and how much carbon was spewed. Al Gore is crying....
