I love even the simplest of kitchen gadgets so help me please to understand something.
Measuring cups
Beings how I didn't make it to the grocery store today, I just whipped myself up a big ol' helping of instant mashed potatoes. Yeah, yeah ... it's carb craving time (the early stage of PMS, doncha know) so back off! :hammer:
Anyhow ... I've noticed this before and never questioned it. Tonight, good friends, I put before you a quizzical quiz, a puzzle to ponder, a veritable .... ENOUGH! On to the question!
I am right handed. I hold my measuring cup in my left hand in order to pour, usually liquids, with my right. Looking at the cup instead of cup measurements I see the metric conversions. I loathe the metric system and never learned it. Why is it that I have to put it down to see the cup measurements? These are Pyrex glass measures.
Anyone have an idea?

No idea. I'm trying to think....when I pour into a measuring cup, the handle is usually on the right...but I don't hold it, it's on the counter.
And I'm left handed.
Don't know what it all means...another mystery of the universe!

I always set the cup on the counter with the proper measures facing me and then pour.
As for your quiz - I have no idea. Maybe Pyrex doesn't manufacture the cups especially for the USA.

They have the metric system because measuring cups are used for many things.
All other problems can be solved with these

I guess we're all screwed. :(

They do make both right handed and left handed cups.
I bought a left handed one by mistake onces...I was spilling stuff trying to measure
