2. I hate to say this, but...
if he had a man purse, he could smuggle all that stuff in. I mean, who wants to pay $7 for a watered down, medium coke?

11. I kept a backpack on me for a long time and didn't get any flak over it
I mean, maybe if it was audibly sloshing or something, but I usually had a bunch of stuff in it and could just sneak anything I wanted to in a lower layer or the like.

10. My wife loves to sneak food into movie theaters.
One time she heated up some lasagna, put it into some Tupperware, and sneaked it in. I sure people smelled it, but no one said anything.

71. The food our local theater sells is both very expensive and very unhealthy.
   Why would I purchase it?

84. Actually they do Sea
I work part time at a drive in theater here in Kentucky. We are affiliated with a local indoor theater too. The truth us that we make very little from the ticket prices. Remember all of the blockbuster number ones this year? Well out of a $7 ticket price (for two movies) we get about $5 for the first two weeks. Each week after that the percentge changes. As ridiculous as it sounds, we could not stay open without concession stand prices. We measure what we call "per cap", which is total concession sales divided by total attendance. If we don't average about $3 per person, we lose money.

The movie companies also have a lot of control over what we show. We have two outdoor screens, with a double feature on each one. Certain companies will not let us show some companies films with theirs. With some films, we have to agree to keep the film as a first feature a certain number of weeks.

This drive in opened in 1949 and is one of the oldest still operating in the country. Last night, after ten years working there, I heard the funniest customer line ever.

A young couple with two kids came in. I told them the price and they fiddled for a few minutes, and then the girl said, "We will come back another time."
Then the guy leaned over and asked, "Hey, is it cheaper for the matinee?". I wanted to tell him, Yeah matinees are free. Come out at noon and watch all you want for free...lol.

Sea, sorry about the high prices, but it really is the way we pay the bills.

Freeper troll...don`t you know it is supposed to be FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

78. Why should I spend
$5 on a small popcorn that has 700 calories? I can make my own for 30 cents and it's only about 100 calories?

And a bottle of water at $4.00? That's highway robbery for the Dasani water that you can buy in a store for $1.00. Or just drink tap water.

**** them. It costs so much to go to a movie and pay for popcorn and a drink it sucks. I feel real sorry for those money grab-in bastards. How about when you go to a gas station and knowing full well the station makes only 3 cents a gallon on your $2.95 gas you pay $5.00 for your soda and feel sorry for them? Does that work out for you?

42. Make your own popcorn at home and take it to the theater.
No one should be forced to buy their deadly popcorn. A small bag has 54 deadly grams of saturated fats. Pop your own with an air popper and coat it with fat free spray-on butter and substitute salt. Bring it into the theater in a shopping bag. That will save you $5-$8 and your kids will have more money for the movie and a drink. No one should have to be subjected to the deadly foods offered in theaters. I've been popping my own popcorn for years. It's a damned free country and no capitalistic company has the right to screen what you eat or drink. They don't even offer a healthy alternative to the deadly popped corn they sell.

Guess what you ignorant piece of shit...no one is forcing you to go to the damned movie.
Stay the **** out of there if you don`t like it.

movies in AM at AMC are reasonable price before noon which doesn't solve the problem of going at night

too much money for snacks

Frequent movie card helps to get snacks sometimes

81. It is criminal what a bag of ****ing popcorn and soda cost in theaters now
and lately, AMC is monitoring what people bring in to the theaters ( more so, in recent months ) I grabbed a coffee at the Dunkin Donuts in the mall, and they wouldn't let me in with it...but I like that coffee..perhaps if they had one at the concessions stand it would be different?

Anyway...popcorn and soda came to around seven-eight dollars or something like that, and I know these people are making a killing with this shit to begin with. I think the ticket itself is $9.00

ripoffs

Normal person trying to have a business (movie theater) so he/she buys a building and pays property taxes on it.
Tries to perform a service of providing entertainment so buys (invests) in equipment to show movies.
Has to pay for licenses to operate, pay to have all entrances, bathrooms etc ADA compliant.
Has to meet strict fire codes and pay large insurance premiums.
Countless other regulations regarding safety and food consumption must be met.
Utility bills monthly for heat, air conditioning, electricity, water and phones.
Perhaps some employees that need to be paid as well as all that goes along...comp,SS etc.

DUmmy reaction to a non necessity in life...Cheat,steal and still demand it to be FREEEEEEEE!

Yep, they get so much now for free that they now want everything else for nothing...so, what else is new with the DUmmies?

If the wife and son twist my arm real hard and I think the movie might be worth seeing, I go to the movies and don't bitch about the cost....and I damn sure don't take a buffet with me.

Yep.  We don't go often because it is so expensive, but we always get some snack because we know that's what keeps the theaters open.  If DUmmies had their way, everything would be government owned...and going to a movie would be as much fun as going to renew your license.  On the other hand, all the Hollywood leftists would suddenly discover that the system they hate is the ONLY thing keeping them in "the elite."  :rotf:

I'd be willing to bet that the majority of the people bitching int hat thread about the cost of a movie these days dont even go to the theater.

My guess is they Bit Torrent every flick they watch.

Movie tickets cost about $10.25 in Vegas.  $5 for a soda, $5 for popcorn if you're dumb enough to purchase that stuff in the theater.  Our gas stations typically have a 2/$2 on Coke products.  It's not like the movie theater kids pat you down before entering the theater.  Stop at the gas station, buy your snacks and soda and then purchase your ticket.

Everyone knows the theater charges way too much money for their products.  Who would pay $3 for a bag of Reese's Pieces?

The popcorn is the whole reason I even take my kids to the movies. Tons of fake buttery goodness included. Sure i have a total stomach ache after but for the hour and a half of popcorn goodness its worth it.

It's not like we go everyday, every week or even every month. It's entertainment, not something that is required to live.

So there will be no government program to support my movie habits?  :(

Yet, no mention of paying hollywood lefties tens of millions to dress the way someone tells them to, say what someone else has written and told how to say those words.

I have no idea what movie tickets are now.  The last time me and "the boss" (and I don't mean 'Bruce') went to the movies was to see "An American Carol".  Actually, I went to see "An American Carol" and she went with me, in return, I had to go across the hall with her to see "Nights in Rodanthe".

The CEO that ran the company for 20 years that the DUmmie works for isn't worth a few million when he retires or leaves after all those years but a movie star that worked a few weeks on a movie is.....and the movie star is seen as so much smarter.

Long run-on sentence, I know....and now you know why I flunked English clas so often.

Do you even have a clue what happens to your utility bills and gas bills?! And you're complaining about the price/cost of the movies?? You people better wake up!

I ain't gone to one since.

There are a few that manage to hold their ground at the born ignorant level....these usually are the ones running for and holding public office as democrtas. The ones that loose ground seem to think the ones able to hold on to the 'born ignorant' level are super intelligent and therefore vote for them.

Movies are just too shitty to spend that kind of money on, and I hate all those stupid Hollywood leftists.  Plus, you have to deal with all the other people.  Talking on their cells, talking to the screen, talking to each other.  Forget it.  I wait for anything to come out on DVD, if I really need to see it.  The last movie I saw in a theater was the first Jurassic Park.  I was also the last person on the planet to find out about the ending to Sixth Sense.

Correct-a-mundo.  And if it weren't for the price of the tickets and popcorn, the primitives would find a reason to complain about how the parking spaces were too small.

I have you beat by 6 years, Karin. The last movie I saw in the theaters was The Untouchables.  Same reason as you--the prices were ridiculous when they started going over $8/ticket. I said "seeya" then. Like Carl says, you don't like the prices, you don't go. At the same time, no way am I going to get preachy about the fat content of popcorn in the theater, like the DUmmy poster AnArmyVeteran. It is what it is. It's buttered popcorn. You want healthy, grill some asparagus at home, but leave the rest of us alone (not that I'm having any buttered popcorn at the theater, since I'm not going; but I'm having plenty of what's bad for me at home and out occasionally).

I got ya both beat! The last time I crossed the threshold to a movie theater was for the first Godfather! Right after that they outlawed smokin' in the theater so I figured If I can't bring my habits with me, they don't need my money!

I'd much rather watch movies in the comfort of my recliner anyway! I have to wait a few months, but by that time I know which one's are worth my time and which one's are real stinkers!!!

I need to see a movie that bad, I do the RedBox, or if they don't have what I want, I get the pay-per-view ($5 max) from the cable, with more new releases than you can shake a stick at.

There it is in all its HD glory, where I can stop it, rewind it, rewind it again to see the bewbage again, and have any damned snack I want, and if I hear a cell phone ringing, it's MINE.
