I'm so tech challenged, but I think I'm ready, and maybe "smart" enough now, to upgrade from my 99 cent Samsung basic flip thingy. I'm a little nervous because this one suits me fine. Though would love to get a camera feature, and maybe to check email, FB and twitter.
What kind should I get ? I've had nTelos since 2002 without a problem and really don't want to change servers. I love the flip style for my tiny purse (Blackberry Pearl?). Just don't want to buy more phone than I need.
Thanks for your help :cheersmate:

I have a Samsung Intensity. It does everything I need plus some. Mine is through Verizon... so I don't know what similar phone your service offers
I checked. The closest one to mine is the Samsung Messager through your service. It's a pretty decent phone. Mine doesn't have the touch screen, though.

I'm not certain but most smart phones either have a sliding face to reveal the keyboard or are like mine and have a touchscreen. The link is of the same kind of phone I have,The Samsung Fascinate Galaxy S Droid Phone. It just came out on the market less then a month ago and can do about anything but make breakfast. It has a 5 Mg camera and can do facebook and twitter. One thing though is the battery tends to run down faster then my previous Motorola Krave ZN4 due to all the applications I have on there but I need for work. Also you should ask about their plans that are offered to support your phone before you decide to make the switch in case you find out it might be to much to spend.

And of course since i have a Driod phone what else could I use for a wallpaper but the HAL 9000

Thanks Thor, you're always so helpful doing the legwork I'm too lazy to do. I've made a note :cheersmate:

Airwolf! I tried the quote feature, but my screen wouldn't let me type the reply .... oy.
Thanks for the info! We did bundle up with Verizon Fios a few years ago and when it came to the cell service, the tech told me to stay with nTelos (so much cheaper and less problems...for my requirements at the time...and still is....$40 a month for both mine and hubby's phones on an all you can eat call and text plan). HOWEVER, they did inform me.....a "smarter" phone plan will catapult up those charges + apps. It might be worth it if I don't have to lug my laptop around when I travel ? Heh.

I have found that I can do allot of things with the phone that could be done on a laptop . Still the advantage of the laptop is that you have huge storage space on the HD and a much bigger screen. Other then that you can stream music and video just as easy with 3G or WiFI with the Droid phones . I used mine yesterday to look for video from the Hailstorms in Phoenix AZ from a few days ago because I had no idea of the storm other then the winds and an insurance guy asked me if I knew anything about hail coming down in the area. They had golfball sized hail that day

I usually take a vacation to get away from the PC and laptop, but my kids are so wired, I'm trying to find ways to keep them from ignoring "mommy" /snork.
Oh, and the coolest app I've seen, and why I'm considering this.....point your phone to the sky and see what airlines are up there and where they're originating/destination. My balcony points to the Atlantic Ocean skyways :)

I love the smart phones, but I use Verizon as my provider and on all the new smart phones, they have a disclaimer saying you have to purchase the 29.99 media plan. So, if I add that to my phone plan, it's about 80-90 bucks.

Yep, I do know the monthlies will be kicked up....About $50-$100 month :( The guy at nTelos told me to wait til Dec, at least I'll get a free phone.....lol.

My phone is dumb, like me. It's just easier that way. :-)

Same here. I can make phone calls , send text messages, and it has a camera that I can take a pic and send it.

You can do the same thing with stars too. Point it to the sky and it will download a star map of the constellations your looking at. Not sure if its available for the Droid orother smart phones but it is for the iPhone

I have a Sidekick LX from T-Mobile. I got it for free when they were doing a promotion for their long time customers. I have unlimited text & web for $20/mo. I love that phone so much.
