DISH Network drops FOX
by Pinto Pony
Thu Oct 07, 2010 at 05:55:15 AM PDT
The FX channel suddenly disappeared from our Dish Network, and inquiring minds wanted to know why. We wrote to the Dish Network management and here is their reply.
Dear Valued DISH Network Customer,
Thank you for your recent communication regarding your channel.
We regret that FOX Networks, the owner of some Regional Sports Networks, FX and National Geographic Channel, removed their channels from the DISH Network line-up. FOX has demanded a rate increase of more than 50%. An increase this large would force DISH Network to pass these costs on to our customers, which we are unwilling to do during these tough economic times.
We know these channels are important to you which is why during the FOX Sports lock-out, we're pleased to bring you 20 additional sports channels at no cost. We assure you that we are doing everything possible to restore these channels. In the meantime, you will not miss a single MLB playoff game or NFL Game. The Solutions Tab has a full list of alternative sports options available to you while we continue to negotiate with FOX.
DISH Network will continue to work tirelessly for a fair agreement in order to bring these channels back at the earliest possible time. Feel free to share your thoughts and concerns by e-mailing us at president@dishnetwork.com . We assure you that we will read every e-mail we receive.Thank you for your patience during this process and for being a valued DISH Network customer.
Sincerely,
DISH Network

so sucks to be a Dish subscriber right now.

26. You are right. Fox News and Fox regular network are both still on.
Fox Sports, FX and NatGeo are blocked.
D'OH!
DAMN YOU KKKARL ROVE!!!!!!11111oneeleven

You STUPID DUmmies!!! Goes to show how much you about marketing and capitalism. :whatever: ::)
Why would a cable provider cancel out Fox News, when they know how well Fox does in the ratings?!?! DUmmies = :hammer: :hammer:

Yeah, I saw that yesterday...it was pretty funny watching the champagne pop. Idiots. RIF.

"Logic 101" is not taught in DUmorland.

I noticed I lost FX, but, to tell ya truth, I never watched much of it anyway. They gave me a coupla other channels that show old movies. Better than a fair trade, IMHO! Brad Pitt and George CLooney can't hold a candle to Clark Gable or Spencer Tracy!
I still get the FOX network on my local stations, so what's the BFD???
Another balloon popped for the DUmmies! Sucks to be them! They'll eventually make a difference in another 24 business hours.
Guess they'll have to put together another lame circle jerk on some other inane subject!
-
"Logic 101" is not taught in DUmorland.
To teach "Logic 101" on Skin's Island of Misfit ****-ups, would presume that there is a DUmbshit there - somewhere - who is proficient in Logic at at least a college introductory level.
Have you seen some evidence of ONE DUmbshit - ANYWHERE on the ****in' Island - who could qualify for such a job? Evidence I might have overlooked perhaps?
Hell, I wouldn't even hire the two professed "teachers" at the DUmp - proud2bliberalkansan and Greenbriar (I think) - to teach remedial Cluster****.
-
Dish sucks. I changed to Direct TV.

Dish sucks. I changed to Direct TV.
I've had both, there's really not an ounce of difference between the two except price and I get a better deal from Dish. I'd like to have their NFL package, but they want way too much for it, so when it comes to a package with all the channels my grandchildren want, Dish is a better deal.
-
I was a Dish customer for several years, and generally speaking they were pretty good to me. If there's one thing I didn't like about them (it's the same thing I hate so much about DirecTV and all the crap-tastic cable companies, too) is that in order to get the channels I wanted, I had to buy the super-deluxe, top of the line channel package, and spend ~$80.00 a month to do it. I then had to go and block 2/3 of the channels I'd just paid ~$80.00 a month for so that the boy wasn't turned into a sociopathic, foul-mouthed, little shit (yeah, I blocked (P)MSNBC) by the programming he was watching.
Closing in on 2 years now since we completely evicted the idiot box from the house. Not missing it yet.

Back in the da when I was pirating them both :innocent: DTV took it more personally then Dish did. Matter of fact when they raided my house they took all my DTV stuff and left the Dish and BEV stuff. Wasn't that sweet of them?

I've got a 3 year old granddaughter, that I just happen to be the appointed daycare for, while my daughter pursues her pharmacology degree heh.
I couldn't keep my sanity without SpongeBob and Back At The Barnyard! hehehehehe
Oh, mustn't forget the Penguins from Madagascar, either!

When my son was a runt, the boob tube would be on 'Toon Disney from the time he rolled out of the rack in the morning until his mommy put him down for a nap in the afternoon (and the Disney programming starts becoming geared to the older kids). One of the contributing factors to getting rid of the TV was that it was just background noise for him. He'd have been just happy playing in the front room without it, and proved it when he didn't even blink when we got rid of the box.
To each their own. Like the e-mail joke goes, when a conservative doesn't want to watch TV, he'll just leave the damned thing off. When a Liberal doesn't want to watch TV, they'll picket each of their neighbor's houses in turn, with signs saying that their neighbors are the laziest, cruelest, most abusive parents ever to sire a child because they let their kids watch TV. Umm, yeah.
-
I LOVE the Penguins...

I have to admit they're my favs, too! It's the closet I've seen to solvin' problems like I do!
If the first solution doesn't work, blow it the hell up!!!!

I like FX too, actually. SoA, Rescue Me, Louie. I'd be somewhat pissed if I had DISH Network. Wonder if they'll be providing a limited version of Sunday Ticket during game time though to compensate. (Unless that's only a Direct TV subscription thing) If so, that could be worth it.
-
Had Directv for a few years now and have never had a problem. But as much as I like SOA and Rescue Me I will start a riot if they ever get rid of USA. I never miss an episode of Burn Notice. I loves me some Bruce Campbell! :-)
-
I like Fiona, but YES! Burn Notice is awesome. Somehow, I'm still watching RAW too. :lmao:
Stupid guilty plesaure, I guess. Miss the old days of the WWF though. Hi-Five for giving mention to Burn Notice. It's coming back very soon.

Next month!
One of my favorite movies is Army of Darkness and once I found out that BC was in Burn Notice I was hooked from day one.
Hubby has a bit of a crush on Fiona as well.

I always thought she was just a bit too scrawny, but I'm one to talk...
Beggers can't be choosers either, I guess. :rotf:

Right on bro! :cheersmate: FX has some GREAT shows! SOA, LOUIE, ALWAYS SUNNY, THE LEAGUE, RESCUE ME, to name some.

Gnat Geo is no big loss, however. I don't understand why Rupert would maintain that ecological albatross.
The magazines pre-1980 and journalism pre-1980 were outstanding! But the Kommunist Koolaid the magazine took made me block it from my tv list permanently.
If I need nature, there's always the Internet or the Science Channel. At least that channel is devoid of in-your-face eco-terrorism.

I think the DUmmies and Obama really do not want Fox news to go away.
They get to use Fox news as a scapegoat and an excuse for people not liking the policies of the left. Rather than facing the fact that liberalism doesn't work they rant and rave that Fox news is brainwashing people.
Libs love the trick of changing the debate to something silly rather than debating the actual issue. They do the same thing by calling us racist.

I have Fox news on 24/7 most of the time.
I never missed Glen Beck until today when I turned him off.
He is straying from history to becoming a young man on a bicycle in white shirt and black pants coming to my door to convert me to becoming a Mormon.
His constant replaying of the rally in DC is getting on my nerves, this was in fact more then HIM. He arranged the rally and gathered the guest speakers but it was the People that came not just to hear him but to make a statement that were the Stars of the show.
I liked him better when he was a teacher of history and a man that asked us to wonder if history was repeating itself.
This new Beck bothers me, I liked the old Beck that gave us information that lead to asking questions of history.
I am not sure if I will watch him much more, perhaps twice a week to see how his EGO is destroying a fine man.
-
The DUmmies will never learn. FX is Fox Entertainment,a seperate division from Both FOX Sports and Fox News. Rupert as far as I know only has Fox news
-
FOX News Channel's death has been greatly exaggerated.

YEP! I pretty much quit listenin' when he went all holy roller!
I've got nothin' against the Mormons, but it has no place in politics!
He needs to stick with the Founding of this country and stop tryin' to convert us heathens!
-
Oh frack, I seriously doubt this will last. Many cable/custom programming channels have exorbitantly jacked-up their charges to Dish over the past 10 years. Each time Dish told them "F.U." and removed them from their line up. Usually about 30 days after those channels realized they just lost five million+ viewers and their related advertising dollars, they relented and settled.

Oh I love Burn Notice too! Jeffrey Donovan is HAWT!!! And I've loved Bruce Campbell since the Evil Dead days (which I still watch at least once a month...all the way through Army of Darkness.
I watch wrestling too...it's returned to some of it's roots. When I was 13 I had a boyfriend who was nuts about Portland wrestling and got a kick out of how much like a really bad B movie it was. It's like a soap opera with REALLY buff guys. Have always been a fan of Bret "Hit Man" Hart...he's a brilliant technical wrestler (really embarrassing confession: I still own a "Hit Man" action figure). I'm kinda hoping he turns out to be the manager who's always sending the emails.

I love how Dish, the cable companies, et al, bitch and moan about how some networks increase costs, but won't let us buy packages ala carte.

I just got around to watching My Name is Bruce a little while ago. Gotta love a man who can make fun of himself!
A good friend got to meet Bruce Campbell and Jeffrey Donovan when they took a trip to the sandbox to spend some time with the troops.

Well if his first name is bruce, he can't be all bad! I sure did get razzed a lot when that movie first came out though!!!!

That thread is such a perfect example of DUmmie stupidity and lack of reading comprehension.
Cheering and back slapping without even bothering to read what Dish actually dropped from the lineup.

27. Direct is owned by Rupert Murdoch
and I got rid of that in the early part of the century, during the *co years. Dish carries both FSTV and Link in addition to many more channels than Direct. My sweetie's going to miss Nat Geo and FX.

42. DIrecTV is not owned by Murdoch
Murdoch's News Corp bought DirecTV from Hughes COmmunications (a division of GM) in 2003. In 2008, News Corp sold its interest in DirecTV to Liberty Media in exchange for Liberty's shares in News Corp.

DirecTV, could it? Evil bastards... if it was just Fux News, I'd be THRILLED. But this will probably cause plenty of people to jump ship to DirecTV. ****ers.

41. Thanks, OP for the information AND for the contact for the president of Dish.
We have had Dish for years after terrible prolonged battles with DirecTV.
I thanked the pres for dropping FOX and I went on to praise his customer service people and suggest a little improvement in weekend programming.
I also asked him to never have FOX on again.
Overall, I love DISH and have no plans to change, and I thank you for the opportuniy to bash FOX to someone who matters.
You made my day.

131. Yeah because ESPN which demands more cash every year is doing sooo bad.
You are aware this has nothing to do w/ Fox, Fox News, or Fox business right?
Sports are big and sports fans are likely to demand Dish to restore channels.
Fox networks is bundling FX, Nat Geo with Fox Sports Network. Likely Dish will blink. Sports fans are the backbone of cable/sat.

Glad I'm not the only fan. :shucks:
I personally hope it's Austin. Man should have never handed that beer to Cena. His whole demeanor is getting old. Austin is the be all, and end all of WWE/F superstars, IMHO. The guy was just badass. And those e-mail alert beeps are getting irritating.

I used to watch "rassling" back in middle school, back when Paul Jones, "Wahoo" McDaniels, and Brute Bernard were the stars, Tony Atlas and Rick Flair were just starting.
I live for Ice Road Truckers every year. Jack Jesse's hometown is about 30-40 miles from me.
The Military Channel, especially anything on WWII aviation.
BBCA, for Top Gear and the news.
Versus and Speed, for their coverage of Indycar and F1 racing, though I wish Speed would cover WRC racing again.
Fox, ESPN, and TNT, for NASCAR.
Mythbusters, NCIS, and whatever else catches my eye.
I have DirecTV, because DISH doesn't have Lifetime, which the wife watches. Like they say, if the "boss" (or as I refer to her, "She who must be obeyed!") isn't happy, ain't NOBODY happy!
