Quote
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is advising Republican candidates on November's ballots to frame the choice for voters between Democrats as "the party of food stamps" while selling the GOP as "the party of paychecks."

I personally believe Gingrich lost his way sometime back, but he still manages to hit a home run on occasion.

On the news last night, I saw a snippet with Bobby Jindal, recalling a conversation he had with Obama concerning the job-killing moratorium. Jindal expressed his concerns with getting people back to work, and Obama said "they can get a BP check."  Jindal said, "what if they don't pay?"  Obama said "well, they can get an unemployment check." and left it at that.

Prez zero completely disregards the fact that not only is unemployment a poverty subsistence level of cash, he is seemingly oblivious to the honor, dignity, and well-being one derives from an honest day's work well-done.

Asshat.  He has to go.

Republicans--Party of "hands up".

Democrats--Party of "handouts."

Been that way for a while, until the GOP tried to go "big tent" and ended up becoming Democrat-lite.

You put the car in "D" to go forward..........

I think his comments were a little over the top, but unfortunately it does represent the new base of the party.

Who is paying for the unemployment check should have been Jindal's reply to him.

Yup...  The repub leadership turned their backs on conservative principles in a failed attempt to get more votes.

We are still paying for that mistake.  Hopefully we will begin to correct some of the damage after this year's elections next month.

Obviously, you haven't seen what the state of Massachusetts pays.

Up to $629 per week, plus dependency allowance if you have children.

NH, OTOH, has a cap of $427 per week.

Both of those are more than I make. I should move to either place and live off of welfare.  :banghead:

It is unemployment, which is half of what your regular salary is (with maximum amounts listed in Sparky's post).    Someone is paying for unemployment however, and that is the employer if they are self-insured (large employers usually are), or they paid premiums for it, which means the state is paying.

Obama doesn't understand the concept of "nothing is free."

Most liberals don't.  Think of the caller to Michael Savage who claims her welfare check is paid from "his stash."

ETA: There are other requirements and conditions as well for UEI, but you get the idea.

I collect 471 a week, after having taxes deducted. Without taking out taxes, I would get 530 a week. (I was making great money just about 700 bucks a week, take home pay.)
Hopefully this all ends soon. I hate being on the gubberment's dole. I have a job lined up, just have to pass the piss test, (NO PROBLEM), which is on Tuesday and I start training for my new career Wednesday, HOPEFULLY.:cheersmate: :cheersmate:
