PITTSBURGH — A black judge from western Pennsylvania rejected a plea agreement for a man accused of fighting with police during a traffic stop, saying it was "a ridiculous plea that only goes to white boys."
The plea agreement was for a sentence of three months probation. Allegheny County Judge Joseph Williams said on Tuesday that a black defendant in that situation would not have been treated as leniently.
In court, Williams told Assistant District Attorney Brian Catanzarite that he "for some reason comes up with I think ridiculous pleas whenever it's a young white guy," according to The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I'm just telling you what my observation is. If this had been a black kid who did the same thing, we wouldn't be talking about three months' probation."
Catanzarite responded that he was standing in for another prosecutor and didn't broker the plea deal.
"Now that the court has essentially called me a racist, I think that's unfair. I don't make offers based on race. I make offers based on facts," Catanzarite said, according to the Tribune-Review.
Williams later recused himself from the case, and a white judge accepted the plea agreement for 24-year-old Jeffery McGowan.

He shouldn't have mentioned race at all. He should have made the decision he saw fitting for the crime regardless of what color the kid was, and I hope he did. But what person isn't going to plea for the lesser sentence? Anyone with a decent lawyer is. Black or white. If it was a bogus plea, he should've just given his sentence and let it be with no mention of black or white.

I get this feeling that this judge is angling for a nice juicy Department of Justice job with Eric Holder & co.
He sure has the requisite mindset.

Well, at least he recused himself. I'd tend to reserve judgment on the substance of what he said, it's always possible he's right on the basic facts.

I'd be willing to bet that some local reporter is digging into plea bargain cases in the jurisdiction.

Red diapers, geeze I remember my mom telling that the Cuban baby's in Key west in the 1940's wore black diapers.
What the frig, it stands that humans are going to be raciest regardless of education and religion. Until their own go outside the family.
This is nothing that we can pass laws about or demand from people, in due course we will solve this by ourselves.----Humans will marry outside their family blood, have children that will also go along to marry people different from their heritage.
For the last 50 years I have seen what happens to family's that are raciest and one or two of the members marry outside the blood.
At first both family's go nuts, get mean and nasty. Then when the children come along they begin to accept the children on both sides of the family.
People who are raciest that have Grandchildren, nieces and Nephews become loving family. At first they may find embarrassment for the child but then blood over comes racism and they become protective of the kids.
There are millions of children that come from family's with 4-5 different family's of religion, origion and race.
I myself am a mongrel. French, English, Dutch some Jew and perhaps my ggggggrand father was a bald headed chinaman. There could be some black in the family may even be the reason of the family having such full head of hair.
So who cares, yes the different cultures are different as are the religions. Give me a break here, is this not a benefit to us then to be a full blooded whatever.? This is why the full blooded cultures just survive, the mixed cultures have at hand dozens of DNA to that can lead to remarkable people.

My son has a letter of apology from the Chief of Police of a certain county in Arizona. He had bought a Mustang in MS and the license plates hadn't yet been registered in AZ. One of his friends had a Mustang also, and they were stopped at a red light. A real dipshit black cop pulled them over, accused them of racing :mental:and called them crackers, white boys, etc. Told them they wouldn't get away with anything just because they were white.
The friend was wearing a University of KY pullover and had a Southern accent. My son has no accent because he's been raised in many places, but his license plate read MS. So this asshat decides they are racists.
My son went to a lawyer and wrote up a complaint. Long and short of it was the chief of police wrote him an apology, the Internal Affairs police investigated this racist/dirty cop and he was DEMOTED. My son lodged a complaint with the IA guys against the cop for racism and according to him (I wasn't there) the IA guy asked my son, Are you serious? You're saying this dude is a racist?
Apparently the old only white folks can be racists meme was in full force in their minds, but since my son threatened to sue the police department they came around to demoting the officer. I still think any racist cop shoudl be fired. :fuelfire:
