CNN anchor Rick Sanchez was fired Friday by the news network after he went on a tirade during a radio interview calling Jon Stewart a “bigot†and accusing the "elite, Northeast establishment liberals†of labeling him as “second-tier†because of his Cuban-American background, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company," the statement from CNN said. "We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well," it added.
The TV host, who was born in Cuba and raised outside Miami, said that racism in the media comes "not just [from] the right," but also at the hands of the "elite, Northeast establishment liberals," during a Thursday interview on the "Stand Up! with Pete Dominick" SiriusXM radio show.
"Deep down, when they look at a guy like me, they see a guy automatically who belongs in the second tier, and not the top tier," the 52-year-old said.
He then pointed out Comedy Central's Jon Stewart, calling him a bigot with “white, liberal establishment point of view" and accusing “The Daily Show†host of picking on Sanchez's on-air mistakes because of his race.
"Here's what they do. This is the game they play: 'I just picked on Fox News, because they just had a bold-faced [sic] lie about something -- dammit, that means I gotta find something on CNN. Oh, I know… wait, hold on, let me find, oh that Rick Sanchez, that little Puerto Rican guy. I'll make fun of him,’†Sanchez surmised.
During the radio interview, Sanchez was asked about Stewart being considered a minority since he was Jewish, but balked at the suggestion.
"Very powerless people," he laughed. "He's such a minority, I mean, you know… Please, what are you kidding?…I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart...the people in this country who are Jewish -- are an oppressed minority? Yeah," he said.
Sanchez joined CNN in 2004 and became the host of his own show “Rick’s List†in January 2010.

I wonder if he's trying to get in at FNC . . . ::)

After the no-compete clause in his contract is up (usually 6 months) I fully expect to see him on MSNBC.

'moran' -- He seems to have forgotten that blaming the Jooooooooos ! only works on the internet, not in real life.

Let me preface this by saying no tears are being shed here for Rick Sanchez. If CNN canned him for bigoted remarks, if anything they were years late on this one.
After all, this is the same CNN that never even considered firing Rick Sanchez prior to the 2008 presidential election when he called three black men sellouts because they dared come on his show and say they were going to vote for John McCain instead of the Barack Obama HE concluded they should support. This is the same CNN that never even considered firing Rick Sanchez for slandering a talk show host by repeating an unsubstantiated, fictitious racial slur he falsely attributed to Rush Limbaugh.
But let Rick Sanchez speak ill of a Northeast liberal elite or imply that Jews run CNN (or the entertainment business in general) and that’s an instantly terminable offense.
It doesn’t matter that Bill Maher can say “******†on a CNN broadcast while Larry King chuckles at the sound of one of the worse racial slurs in America. CNN has standards to uphold.
And I’ve always wondered why people get so bent out of shape over the possibility that Jews run Hollywood; a notion that numbers seem to support.
One could read the first names of National Basketball Association rosters and conclude that blacks dominate the NBA. One could read the first names of Major League Baseball rosters and conclude that Dominicans now dominate MLB. As long as people are the best at what they do, is this a bad thing? A person can kill someone and be accepted in the entertainment industry until he dares mention the over-representation of Jewish names on any television or movie end credit and he’s on the street in minutes.
Unless Jews are hired into the business based primarily on their ethnicity and not relevant prior experience (and there’s no proof of this), I don’t see why people are canned for making an observation that any other group would be proud of?
The late Marlon Brando took a lot of heat for crudely pointing out (again on Larry King Live) that every ethnic group is caricatured negatively at some point in the entertainment industry except Jews. On Friday, a bad Latino was exposed and dealt with accordingly. Rick Sanchez stepped on the Third Rail of the entertainment industry and he may soon find out who really runs Univision and Telemundo.
Bottom line, he never should have gotten to this point--he should have been shitcanned long ago, but it's now moot.

I've googled and can't find this info at all, but I know years ago that Sanchez was hired by Fox, he was there for a short time and was fired by Murdoch, like I said this was years ago but I remember an interview where this was discussed and that was 1 of the reasons Sanchez hated Fox.

Bally, I wasn't insinuating that he had been trying--just that, if he actually wanted to go to somewhere with ratings, that he might try. :o
-
My only hope is he stays fully UN-Employed. He's a useless, lying piece of crap.

Oh I know you're not, but let's just say I've been reading the left making that type of insinuation on a few boards and it's insane, Sanchez's views, ideology and recent opinion that led to his firing is the left's opinion, but they don't seem to realize that.

I want to fight fire here with fire--- :fuelfire:
This poor suffering ass hat has confused culture with race.
He seems to feel that the media is controlled by Jews------so what.?
How many Latinos controll the Music industry in points south that is not of their culture.? Go to Brazil and try to find a country music station on a radio there. Anyone want to find New Orleans Jazz, or Hip-Hop playing.?
Talk to contractors that build sky high buildings and bridges, If they are really lucky they will hire at double the cost of the average steal worker the men from this one tribe of American Indians that inherited perfect balance no problem for these workers, the are able to walk across a 2 inch beam 300+ feet in the air the same way we can walk across our livingroom floor.
I must be a raciest as I believe that each culture on earth has special qualities that by DNA or culture sets them apart from others.
Asians have this knack for Mathematics. Blacks, the arts, science, and the ability to make anyone cry with their gospel singing.
If anyone has a piece of jewelry with a diamond in it, that item was expertly cut by a Jew.
For us of the white race, we have a Hodge podge of cultures to deal with, each culture be it French to Welshmen have one and more perhaps 100 outstanding significance to add to the best of the best in a field.
We on the sea coast see every culture, race and religion go through our ports. HOWEVER, we seldom see Mongols from desert country aboard a ship at sea. This is not their thing, they are at their best on horse back, moving in tents and doing their thing.
To cry dismay that a Culture or Race of people are doing what they do best is to put down the roots and culture of themselves.
Very shallow and ignorant this man is, I would hope he can get a job with NGO and travel the world to see that his race, culture and religion
are not the only way to excel on earth.

Rick Sanchez Apologizes to Jon Stewart for 'Bigot' Comment
http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2010/10/05/rick-sanchez-apologizes-jon-stewart-bigot-comment/?test=faces
Former CNN anchor Rick Sanchez has apologized for calling comedian Jon Stewart a bigot on a radio program last week, Sanchez's wife revealed Monda
2 things here. Rick Sanchez IS MARRIED!! Wow what a wonderful gal I am sure. Do you think he apologized because he meant it? Or needs a job!
-
Rick Sanchez is the kind of guy who will stair at a carton of orange juice because the word "concentrate" is written on it.
:thatsright: :whatever:
-
IMO, the only reason the DU is outraged is because Sanchez dissed Stewart, I don't think they care at all that he dissed Jews.

I think you might be giving him a wee too much credit. He'd have to ask for the English translation of "concentrate".

If Stewart wasn't in the picture, the DUmmies would be moaning and crying. Sanchez would be hailed as a victim of the right-wing zionist Jooooos and a 'minority' even though nobody would know he was a Cuban unless somebody told them.

A local columnist referenced Sanchez today. The article wasn't about him per se, but it speaks volumes about this pinhead....
I thought about that on Friday when Sanchez, who had a show on CNN, was fired. The network let him go after he went on a radio show and suggested, among other things, that Jews control the media and some journalists look down on him because he’s Hispanic.
From spending a few years in South Florida, when Sanchez was on a local station built around over-the-top sensationalism, I can say that he is partly correct.
People in newsrooms did look at him on TV and roll their eyes.
So did people in schools, hospitals, taxi cabs, hair salons and ... well, you get the picture.
But it wasn’t because he’s Hispanic.
It was because he was like a real-life version of Ron Burgundy, the “Anchorman†character played by Will Ferrell. A parody. A guy who would get Tased on air. A natural choice for official state of Miami-Dade reptile.

I remember Sanchez on WSVN 7.
To call them "sensationalist" would be an understatement.
My jaw dropped when I first saw him on CNN.
