Title: House Democrats introduce bill to restrict interstate alchohol sales
Post by: Chris_ on September 30, 2010, 02:15:28 PM
Quote
A bill that could wind up severly restricting interstate booze trade—thus raising prices, limiting selection, and generally making the world a dryer place, all while giving the Commerce Clause the heave-ho when it comes to trade in beer, wine, and liquor—managed to win a hearing today from the ready-to-get-outta-Dodge House Judiciary Committee. The legislation in question is the cheesily-acronymed Comprehensive Alcohol Regulatory Effectiveness (CARE) Act, which would make it easier for state alcohol wholesalers to protect their monopolies.

One more reason to show these assholes the door in November.

You mean all those Massholes politicians won't be loading up on tax-free booze at the I-93/I-95 liquor stores?  Gonna have Maine State Police stopping every POS car heading north, looking for the one with a trunkful of Allen's Coffee Brandy? (Yeah, I know--that'll be ALL of them.)

I just hope the guy who is governor when this happens (again) starts ordering the arrest of out-of-state cops taking down plate numbers like Meldrim Thomson did back in the early 80's.

Homer Milquetoast (Aka Govenator Lunch)?  He will genuflect and roger up in a heartbeat.

Me, I like selling poison to the Maniacs an Massholes as long as they buy it for out of state consumption.   How about a discount plan where you get an extra case if you take a homeless grifter along with you??

Actually, I was rather surprised when he "nutted up" and signed SB5 earlier this year, effectively telling the Mass Dept. of Revenue to Go F**k Themselves when they "demanded" private businesses turn over their sales records so they could determine how many border dashers were avoiding MA sales tax.

Well, you **DO** realize that complaints of violence in Maine went down nearly 50 percent when Allen's Coffee Brandy switched over to plastic bottles.

Oh, and don't ever, EVER tell a woman drinking a sombrero (milk and Allen's) that's she's really drinking "Fat Ass in a Glass."  Never a good idea.

Nothing new. Distributors have been trying to kill online/mail order sales of beer and wine for years.

I hate it when governments and businesses get in bed together.  It's always a cluster.  All the protection rackets, etc.  It eventually ends badly, with jail, bankruptcy, and tears.

"Fat ass in a glass.."   :lmao:
